Ah yes, the "URGE"...we all get it! LOL
The wires for the subs are in the rear of the box...you can't see them becuase of the way I have the subs facing. You can't even see them in person with your face right up against the box!

Hey Street it looks sweet! i like the lighting effect. do you plan to connect the lights to the trunk light switch? cool effect but i have a couple questions..
1. do you plan to push the port up farther once the box is installed? you need to have at least the diameter of the port worth of distance between any surface and the port itself. looks like about 4 or 5 inch port.
2. did you compleatly seal the trunk off from the cabin? i already tried that idea of running the port up through the hole for the factory sub and confirmed my worst fear. NO BASS! there is too much cancellation because of the large trunk. you have to compleatly seal off the trunk by building a wall behind the seats and sealing it off as well as any holes in the rear shelf to keep the reflected sound waves reflected from the back wall of the trunk from cancelling out the waves going into the cabin.
FYI for anyone else... if you have this configuration try opening your trunk and see if you get more bass with it open than you do with it closed. if you do then you have cancellation.. also try turning your box so the port faces the rear of the trunk and i bet you will have 4 times as much bass. this is a problem in any car where a box is ported through the seatback or rear dash.

The port is staying EXACTLY where it is. The box, including the port, is built to factory specs for those subs. There will be a box that goes around the top of the port to seal it off from the TRUNK. The port is only supposed to be 1" from the bottom of the inner wall of the box itself. It is a 5" acrylic port and is cut to length to accomodate both subs to factory spec.
I have been doing this stuff for 10 years, so there will be NO problem with bass whatsoever. If the box is built right and the port is cut to length and sealed from the trunk, there will be TONS of bass with out any kind of problem.

Oh, the lights are already connected to the trunk switch so they go on when trunk is open and off when it is closed.
And the port is pitched at an angle....I used a formula to keep the 1" spacing correct around the bottom with the angle in place. Like I said, all built to recommended factory specs in the atmosphere it is in.

That box looks sweet! I really like the added flovor of art work behind the port, great job! Although, I have to agree with a previous post that says you need 4" or 5" between the back of your port and whatever wall it is facing. This is also the same for the front of the port. Should be as many inches away from any surface as the port is in diameter. Thats always what I have heard and seen in speaker speck manuals, but it might be different for a bandpass box.
I'm not saying you're wrong, I just wanted to tell ya what I know. By the way, I have a 10" Vega Vega in a ported box that is 1.77ft^3. That is the recommended size for the high powered enclosure, 300+ watts. Does it really matter what dimentions you build the box, so long as the internal dimentions equal out to 1.77ft^3? Thnks for your help.

Actually, the shape of the box will affect the final output of the woofer. To put it simply, air will flow differently through an irregular shaped box as opposed to just a plain square or rectuancular box. The waves will bounce off the inside of the box differently under different configurations.
And as I said earlier, Alumapro calls for 1" of space between the bottom of the port and the inside bottom edge of the box. I spoke with their tech department correct to get the proper angle for the built enclosure and the port is centered perfectly between all four walls. Again, I have been at this for a long time now, so I do know what I am doing!
