Philips 6000K D2R Replacement

I bought a set of genuine Phillips 6000K D2R bulbs for my TL. I replaced the stock bulbs since they just turned into halogen yellow. The weird thing is now when I turn the lights on it starts off super purple like 15 000K then slowly changes color into a soft pink. I'm stuck with Pink HID's although they dont look that bad, why the hell is it pink? Arent Philips a good brand for HID bulbs.

I have a 2000 TL so it could be the retarted light that we have that doesnt reflect as well as the 02/03 does??

I also had to pay my local shop 40$ to put them in, so in total i paid 240$ installed for something that didnt look as good as I thought. Stay away from Philips.

I've had my Phillips 4,300k bulbs installed for a few months now and have absolutely no complaints about 'em!

Did your previous set of bulbs have the correct color? If so, it sounds like you got a bad set of bulbs.

Are you sure that they're genuine Philips bulbs?

Did you buy them from a reputable seller?

Can you return the bulbs?

Also, why did you go with 6000K bulbs? The OEM bulbs are 4300K and they will give you the maximum amount of visibility. Higher Kelvin ratings just trade performance for color.

I installed a set of 4300K Philips bulbs in my TL about a year ago and they work great. Those were about $70 shipped through an eBay seller.

6000k actually lights up better? i thought 4300k was supposed to be the best, as far as vision is concerned.

My passenger side went pink just before a few days of flicker and then a dead ballast. But both at once doesn't seem likely....

Nothing lights up the road in front of the car better than 4300K bulbs.

See the following link for details:

http://intellexual.net/hid.html

And, if I recall correctly, fsttyms1 wasn't happy with the 6000K bulbs that he installed on his TL. I think he mentioned that he wanted to go back to 4300K bulbs. Perhaps he'll swing by to comment on that.

He is correct. The blue does make reflective surfaces (street signs) pop better, but he and i never said it lit up the road better. It doesnt. Nothing has more usable light than 4300. And yes i am going back to stock K (when i get around to spending money on the car this winter)

Thanks for your input Kris.

Some other members have reported that the loss in usable light with 6000K bulbs was even more pronounced when driving in the rain. Did you ever notice that effect?
