Update

Broken rear mount causes tranny to crack

so i didnt use the 6 speed rear mount...

this caused the automatic rear mount bracket to snap in half and strip one of the bolt guides in the block.

the weight of the engine caused the tranny case to bear the weight of the engine on the mounting points. The weight caused the case to break where the bolts slide into.

have to pay for classes on monday so the car will be out of commision for a couple of weeks

why that sucks having to by another tranny possibly, could you take pictures maybe, so we can see exactly where the tranny cracked

also i bet it broke when you had dropped the clutch too, then the tranny slammed into the rear crossmember which then cracked it from the impact

actually it diddnt break that way. the rear bracket broke because it was for the automatic. this caused the transmission to crack ONLY where the bolt goes. nothing is wrong witht he tranny. i just need to replace the case. so all is well.

oh yea, and the REAL 6 speed mount and bracket

so is it leaking fluid then ,
but yeah i was going to say the case itself is replaceable but it does require a bit of labour to do it though

also i did not see you post this like 10 days ago , and i have not read everything yet, so what tranny was it, a tl or cl one, or god forbid an accord one without the lsd

it could still leak and be fine, especially since he proably pulled right over, so it never had a chance to do damage to the tranny from low fluid, also it could still have a slow drip to it

how did you keep your IMRC valve stuck open? i just found out that we need some extra thing to control the actuator so i'm just going to keep it open and think about getting an rpm switch in the future.

i wanna know what vtec really feels like!! (im hoping theres a drastic difference)

That wont activate vtec. Maybe NSXNEXT can help you activate the IMRC with a RPM switch. He had one.

I know, but since ive had this engine my IMRC has been closed during vtec, i'm hoping i'll see some extra power with it open like its supposed to be (even though its supposed to open at 4100rpm)

Why is it closing once vtec hits? (how do you know) What are you using right now to control it?

it's closed all the time, after reading an old thread on it, you can test it by pulling on the throttle cable and checking if it opens at 4100rpm. I did the test and it didn't open. according to civicdrvr there's a separate module that controls it that the ecu sends a signal to. Is this correct?

there are two nuts that hold the cable in place right by the imrc. i spun the nuts to the edge of the thread and tightened it. this essentially pulls the cable all the way and keeps it open

haha, well ever since i've owned my car (august 06) when you start to accelerate with load at lower speeds, you can hear a lower pitched whining noise, sounds like a quieter version of "straight cut gears"

i'm sure you've guys have heard it, was just curious if the 6spd does that too?

Would love to help but I never got mine to work right. It opens at the correct rpm but it never closes. I've tried just about everything.

I need to go and mess with it again. Right now I have it open like Phee does.
