looking to add some extra horses to my whipp however, don't want to go the route of intakes, exhaust etc as yet. I just want something simplistic. I was on ebay and I seen this modification chip that says it adds +35hp to the TL or RL. I wanted to ask you guys if this actually works to any degree...

No none of them work, they are a waste of money and will most likely reduce hp. Spend your money on real mods like headers pulley and intake.

 

Eh, nothing is more simplistic than an intake. You could get the Comptech Icebox if you are worried about noise. Although it may be difficult to find. Other not so noisy mods are spacers and Crank Pulley upgrade.

 

lol yeah, those offers are all pretty much BS. i mean, think about it, if it was that easy and cheap to add 35 more ponies, just sounds too good to be true. and in most cases, stuff like this is id just go with the intake like everyone says. prbly cheapest and easiest way

You mean this guy in YouTube was lying? LOL. He said his TL-S has only BBS wheels and a chip, but with the chip he gets 55 more HP and goes from 0-60 in less than 5 seconds.

i just checked the Jet performance chips and they offer chipping for the tl but i was wondering if anybody has done this to there TL-S? if so what kind of gains do you think i could expect from this upgrade?

If you do a search, you'll find a few threads where other AZ members have used these and report butt dyno increases. I have yet to see a member post a real dyno, but the concept does make some sense.

 

Sure you can on some cars, the TL just doesnt happen to be one of them!
Your money can be far better spent elsewhere

Not a high enough demand for a system thats so expensive. If i remember right there was a rumor of them working on it for the 3rd gen for the SC but now that comptech is out of business i dont know if that would happen??

 

It's sad, because you can get the real deal for a BMW. Some one should get into this market for Honda, or Acura at least. I think plenty of people would be interested.

 

Hondas ECUs arent easy to play with like many other makes like GM, Ford,BMW etc... It took alot and along time before any thing like that was avail for teh little 4 bangers, and even today the Hondata system is very expensive and not much is gained unless there is FI. There just arent significant gains to justify the price
