kinda OT, but a few days ago my friend and i were doing some wiring shit to his 97 M3, and we disconnected the bat (in the trunk) and when we reconnected it, all the windows and the sunroof, opened and closed....it really wierded us out. funny though...

EDIT: wait a sec, how could a battery [on a new car] decharge completely in 1 month???

alright- after you jumped it, did you drive it?....if yes is the CHECK ENGINE light still on?....if not it could've been anything....when the car hasn't gotten any power for a while, shit like that could happen for a split second.....however if it's still on now while you're driving it, i'm out of ideas; take it to your dealership.

CEL illumintes when malfunction is detected in the ODB II diagnostic system. More important to find out what is causing the fault rather than resetting the CEL. Proof positive why it's called a Idiot Light. :P

The fact that disconnecting the battery deletes stored codes has been known for a long time now.

But if it's an active code, it won't go away. You must fix the problem and deactivate the code. Then it becomes a stored code (MIL still on), at which point you can disconnect the battery to get rid of it.
