you might ruin the paint from debris that flies in the engine bay.

Thanks. I thought that at first but I dont think it traps in to much heat , all the airways to the manifold are open but idk

Looks good. Does it scratch off easy? I did something like that before on another car and noticed it scatches off but I dont remember what paint I used. Might want to try it again after looking at your engine bay.

Na. I wanted a high heat paint that looked good so the best choice I found was the dupli-color red caliper spray paint. The big plus is that its made to take a few dings and still look good..

I used sand paper(320 grit) to smooth out all the rough areas. Spend some time doing this if you dont want that bumpy feel or look.

I gave it 2 light coats of primer. After setting for 15-20min I sanded the primer (320 grit) tell it was smooth to the touch.

After cleaning it I sprayed 6 light coats of red paint waiting about 10min between coats. I let it set for about 25-30min then took the tape off.

When taking the tape off you need to watch out. pull in a steady downward motion do not jerk the tape off or your paint will come off with it. Dont wait to long to take of the tape also, if the paint is dry it will prob peel and chip

Im keeping the base silver but i want some black 'touches' to go with my rims and c/f hood (and hopefully c/f trunk if I can find one). So im not really too sure yet. I've been scouring the net and magazines for some ideas. I also have a body kit on the way to set it off and Im gonna drop the front a bit. I might drop the back but with my 275 pound stereo i dont really need to. its hard to tell with my avatar pic but my back sits so low and my front is factory height. so ya i gotta fix that. lol. i still got trophies tho this year, and i hadn't put the doors or hood on.

Its only held on by 9 bolts so that part is easy but there is a few wires that are connected to it that took me a few min to git off. In all I had it off in less than 15min.

You also need a socket extension to reach the 4 bolt on the top of the strut bar.

^ Nice.

I would love to paint mine like that to go with my silver & black theme.

And Ramsrt500 nice meeting up with you on Saturday.

If you don't remember...you, me, David, and another guy were checking out the engine bay, strut bar and intake coupling.

Looks better in person...turned out good.

Peace.
