pad help

If I have warped rotors but practically new pads, should I replace the pads as well when I am swapping out rotors? Or will that cause more problems?

You should not have to buy new pads.

Examine the pad surface for damage if there was grooving on the old rotor
As long as everything looks ok- it probably is!

Looks like I'm good to go!!! This stupid rotor thing has been driving me crazy, I got my warped rotors cut and they were more warped than before, so I got new rotors which seem warped as well...put them in, and felt a mild pulsing, then during regular drivig they got warped even more...

How long does it normally take for stock rotors to warp? I got my 99 TL used, I've had it for a little over 4 yrs now and I've never had to replace the rotors. I've got 87k miles on it. Never felt any pulsating or anything like that. What's the deal with everyones' rotors?

I've had rotors warp the week I got them, and I had one pair of OEM's that lasted for about 3 years...It's weird b/c the ones that I had for 3 years I never drove hard but they eneded up warping anyway...the last pair I had I got rear ended and they got warped...

If you have warped rotors sometimes its a good idea to just replace the pads as well. They will often glaze up also (like what is happening to the rotors to give you warped rotors) and wont apply even brake pressure to the pad and rotor.

Even brand new high dollar rotors can be ruined by improper application of torque to lug nuts.
Over torque and uneven torque are killers of metal objects

Just buy quality rotors and matched pads, and never let anyone near the wheels without a torque wrench and very specific instructions.

Admit it Kris- you have also gone thru many different sets of pads and rotors in all that time.
Track days, various rotor/pad combos
I saw the brake dust pic!!!!

Doubt your harder than me. All of my set ups have seen track time and many (like every weekend) fun spirited backroad runs

Besides proper lug nut torque- proper cool down is the other biggie in brake life-
something fsttyms1 knows how to do!

Stop and go driving will eat up brakes and glaze pads like you cant believe
Routine hi speed slow downs are nothing in comparison to repeated 45-0 useage with no cool down drive included
In the shop- have seen more commuter cars need brakes than those who drive faster

city driving is the hardest thing for a car. I would rather own a car with 200k hwy miles than a car with 40k city miles
