P1739/1740; shifts fine; what if I do nothing?

Before I rush out for new pressure switches, let me ask you:

Is there an immediate urgency to my trouble fault?

Cleared it last week, and it is back . . .

Yea I got that same code. I reset it a couple times, but it kept coming back. The dealership used their flush machine, and the light never came back on. Say what you want about flush machines, but the official Acura machine saved my tranny.

30k miles later, no problems.

everything i've read/ heard states " don't use the machine". Sperry - did you try cleaning the solenoid screens ? I'm far from a mechanic or an expert, but maybe the code is coming up because of lack of fluid from the screen ??

I'm going to take them out next weekend and clean them.

On another thread, the guy cleans them, and the code came back a few months later.

As long as inaction will not cause the transmission to overheat or immediately implode, I'm cool.

I priced the parts, and a new gas cap. $125 delivered from acura oem parts online. Backup plan.

Im guessing the acura machine is made to work with the newer acura transmissions
if they use it on ours with good results = awesome!
are they really changing all the fluid? not just 3 qts, and what was the cost?

other trans shop machines often use dextron3, the very fluid thats not allowed near the TL!

start with cleaning selenoids before replacement
some new pics would help others

fix it. If you dont it can cause more wear and failure faster. Those lights arent dummy lights that dont mean nothing.

I'd planned on cleaning the screens [not sure where they are ! // Behind the pressure valves ?] this week.

Let me clarify. Do I need to park the car and take the bus until it is fixed?

Would you try cleaning, or cut to the chase, and order new parts?

I think kris means ~dont ignore the lights~, they indicate a real problem that failure to do anything about = will result in damage to the trans

You already plan to remove the selenoids/clean- the screens are underneath iirc
and have a backup plan to purchase new parts if needed
So thats considered being active in the repair
drive short distances as needed until its fixed

who has the good info on this job?- is it in the diy.. or next to the diys?
pretty sure I have seen pics here

Dealership did it, and it cost me ~$170

^Agree. From what I understand, the clutch packs can overheat and let off metal shavings into the fluid. These shavings clock passages for ATF to get to other parts, and the problems just pile up from there. If you just wait it out, the transmission will die quickly.

If it's original, it's going to die.

The fluid looks new. I did a 3 x 4 last year, at 103K; probably the first time it was done.

Did a 3 x 3 a few months ago, and it was looking healthy after the first three came out.

Just ordered the parts. Well, at 152K, it's either fine, or this is the end, and I have another few months left.

Thanks for the clarification on expected component life.
I've read that some guys do this replacement as a general wear item.

28600-P7W-003 SWITCH ASSY., OIL PRESSURE $44.27
28600-P7Z-003 SWITCH ASSY., OIL PRESSURE (TEXAS INSTRUMENTS) $48.41
90471-PW7-A00 GASKET (10MM) 2 $1.91 $3.82
17670-SM4-A04 CAP, FUEL FILLER (TOYODA) $17.16
