Go buy something 'fast' if that's what you want- I personally don't understand why anybody wants to drag race in a 4 dr. luxury sedan anyway- THAT doesn't make sense.

I never said I want a fast car, did I?
I just find it funny how every 17 or 18 year old that get this car all of a sudden think there car is the fastest car at their school or in the lot when it clearly is not.

I never bought the car to be fast , I bought the car at the time becuz it was the best bank for under 30K not to be speed racer. I was looking at a 2001 WRX also at the time I bought me car buy hated the interior and it looked cheap inside so I bought this. I never said I wanted a fast car or that my car was fast Its all of you guys that think this is a race car!

I raced it 7-8 years ago when I was a young immature punk that though my car was fast... I did it "correctly" and went to the track with a few of my friends and cusins and raced the correct way ON THE TRACK...

I did not pullup in the right lane pass a vette or z28 and then post I smoked them now did I?

And the kid did post he raced all those cars ..

Why do you guys all get so offended when I remind you guys that this car is not fast?

Just cuz I know my car is not that fast compared to ALL sedans and coupes nowadys does not mean I don;t like my car?
Not everyone wants/needs a fast car to like it?
I actully like driving my car alot expecuially after all the suspention mods, handles great and is smooth at highway speeds BUT IS NOT FAST.
ANY V6 Accord, Camary, Altima, maxima is just as fast if not faster then this car now... I am not bashing it just pointing out the obviouse..

ANd BTW my CL type-s has a CAI, IM and TB spacers, OBX headers , and option pulley and it still is not that fast. You guys need to drive some more different cars if you really think this car is fast.. I am not bashing anyone or the car there are lots or GREAT cars that r not fast , I am ust pointing out the obviouse Im not hating in any way.. Maybee my preaching that this car is not a race car will save someones life or stop them from street racing and the I helped.. Everyone thinks cuz I say these cars are not fast means I hate the car or am bashing you, and that is deff not the case...!
Dont get me wrong when I got my car back in 2000 I was the first to own a V6 type-s w 260HP and I was 19-20.. I also though I was the shit..
I though hey i can smoke my boys m3 he only got 240 HP after getting smokes bad and spinning out into a divider at 130 I learned that my car was not that fast even though I had 20 more HP then my boys M3... I also though I was that fastest thing on RT 80 and had to put some civics and accords to shame cuz everyone tried reving on me but quickly learned there alot of cars alot faster then mine.. 10 years later and now every v6 sedan is faster then my sport coupe, do I care..not one bit.. I have no car payment havent had one in 5 years and the car still runs great and cosmetically looks good and I know enough about it to fix anything that goes wrong so i keep it.. I just recently purcased my first condo so really cant afford a car payment right now and have a new tranny in my car w/3 year warrenty so 3 years more you guys have to put up with me telling you that your car is not that fast!

I know from personal experience that after going from a 125 hp ford escort to a 225 hp acura it feels like a race car, but im not going to go challege 350zs or stuff like that. Why is it so important to you that you tell everyone that these cars are not fast? what does it matter anyway? Let it go

^^for real... but i dont really race in my car either... but me and a g35 raced and we were rolling at 35... and we stayed even surprisingly but yeah idk why i'm saying this but our cars are pretty fast

If people want to have fun and race their car, that is totally up to them...if their car is fast or not..its the race that we enjoy..nobody is going to stop racing if somebody tells them that their car isn't "fast"...

^ Agreed. Its the adrenaline rush we get when we race, thats the reason people race their cars whether its fast or not.

When does a car get fast enough to be classified as "fast" 13s 12s 11s 10s? a 13 second car is a quick car... 12s and lower are really fast... whens the point you consider a car "FAST"?

Every year stock cars become faster and faster. A stock 1999 BMW M3 is 240HP, the UA5 TL-S are 260HP. Now in 2010 the stock TL 3.7L is at 305HP. Back in 2003 when the UA5 TL-S was out, it was a fast car. Now adays you cant compare our cars to 4dr sedans like the G35 at 330HP.

the thread was about his friends calling his car a rice car because he beat ther underperforming american v6 vehicles.. so give a rest already.

and putting all the boltons on your CL and then saying "its still slow"
just shows that you wasted money and makes you look dumb. and a total hypocrite.

and if you read our sigs and descriptions.. (like mine) you'd see "all us kids" dont race. actually my car rarely has hit Vtec since i first sat in the car.

He is correct in the fact that our cars are not fast. I came from a high 12 second miata to this high 14-15 flat second 4-door sedan, and did so for a reason. I was getting in too much trouble lol. Fact is that if you bought this car for what it is(a nice luxury sedan that has some nice sport qualities to it) then you'll be super happy but by no means are these cars quick.

Usually the people that have had relatively quick cars have a different interpretation of what fast is. When I was 16-17 I thought cars like the mustang gt, S2000 and the 350z were fast, now I think they're relatively slow just like our cars. And the fact is that they're only about 1/4 second faster and trap near the same amount as a stick acura tl-s so lets see if that puts it in perspective.

However I love it for what it is and it's a fantastic car so I don't ever bash it either. On the contrary I plan to keep it for quite a while. So just take it for what it is and enjoy it!

your car is a nice first car, much nicer then some of the cars you mentioned your friends drive. if they call it a ricer, it only shows they are upset that "american Muscle" usually aint shit unless you spend over 35-40 grande.

I know I contributed alot more to this site then you ever had..
I was one of the first to point out that out trans has a external filter and helped many with a 3x3 tranny overhaul..
I also helped many out with cylinder misfire codes and changing out coil pack.
If you read through my post I post the most usefull information on this tranny that most here did not know..

When someone posts a useless thread "is out car a ricer" and does not know the answer then I will post some useless information also..

Like I said many times I have been a member since 2001 on this site and 260hp.com before this site existed and the people on this forum get more and more immature by the day it seems and when someone gets offended when i call the same car I own slow then that tells me something is wrong with self esteem...

Anyways, our cars are not rice but they can be riced out depending on your style of modding.

Our cars aren't usually associated with import tuners. Most people respect our cars as elegant cruisers instead of a high performance vehicles (or a wannabe one). Our cars look better driving slow rather than fast haha.

Anytime you say something NEGATIVE about the car that people are driving true or not (even if u own the same car)they will jump all over you.. Its like you insulting there first born..
There have benn many posts when someone stated that they smoked a mustang GT and you call them out on it saying the guy in the GT was not racing or summtin like that and they will jump all over you...
My advice to you < If you dont wanna get on anyone case dont call they sub 15 second 1/4 mile car slow... I have posted on this forum for 9 years on and off and never seen so many people get so offended like this group when you tell them there car is slow and its no sports car.. All of a sudden cuz i said that my car is slow that means I hate it , I should sell it and so forth and so on..And the only person that knows if there car is a ricer is the owner of the car.. If you like your car and dont think its a ricer then who cares what others think about it?
People gotta stop careing about what others think and stop tring to impress others and just care about themselves and make thereselves happy not others.. If you are gonna live to try and please everyone else then you will never truly be happy cuz you will always be doing what others want u to do not what you want to do!

the word "fast" is a relative and subjective term. biking at 20mph is fast, driving at 20mph is slow, driving intoxicated at 30mph is fast.

Right now the car is stock and i think im going to keep it that way because StonedCL is right, whats the point of putting performance mods on a slow car and it still be slow? no i bought it to be a lil bit louder, not to be fast our cars are slow
and that civic would still be slow, insted of using all that money on all those performance mods use that money towards a car that can be that fast stock

He's not putting a turbo kit on it, he's doing bolt-ons and ALL bolt-on TL's are still slow YES you can make ANY car fast but not with bolt-ons. Even some of the bolted 3G TL-S break into the high 13's but that's not fast.

I love my TL but it's by far one of the slowest cars i've ever owned and I know that, take it for what it is. It's a FANTASTIC luxury sedan with enough umph so you don't feel like you have to keep up with traffic, and yea it'll spank some rice too
