Is this the original Timing Belt? (cross-post)

I wouldn't mind if the 2nd gen CL and the 2nd gen TL forums were merged. The cars are essentially the same with the same problems, and then yody wouldn't have to resort to cross-posting to get some answers...

Yeah.... TL and CL both share a lot of common undercarriage and mechanical components, but as Karanx7 stated ...... the owners usually are looking for more specific details on their particular car. However as the overall interest in the 2nd Gens keeps declining, it may not be a bad practice to check across the forums. Many TL folks check out the CL"S" 6 speed feature as an upgrade performance mod for the TL sedans. So, the point is well taken, IMO.
Hey Yody, back on subject : With no real documentation, ya gotta go with your gut. Gates makes a quality product, no doubt about it. But with the way it changed owners, it very well could be the OEM....IDK.
I'm unsure if the Gates aftermarket belts have "Honda" imprinted on them or not. May be something to further research ? Bottom line is if you're unsure and wanna hang on to the car.... just change it out for peace of mind in the long run, IMO.

I'd say if you're in doubt, you should change it. Even if the belt looks and is truly in decent shape, there's no telling how the idler pullies, tensioner, and water pump are.
I've heard that the longer type of hydraulic tensioners are known to leak fluid and fail.
I'm at 205,000 miles. The person I bought the car from said the timing belt was changed on time, but upon registering on owerns.acura.com, I've found no proof that it was actually done. I doubt a 13 year old belt could have made it to 205k, but I need to do the service as soon as possible. To get home from university it's ~160 mile trip, and I'm starting to get nervous every time I make the trip.

acura owners site only tells you service records if someone else actually logged on and recorded their services, no? I'm on there and i can't find one thing about my car.

And if you are in doubt, change it. I would rather be safe than sorry.
