one problem after another
one problem after another
I pulled the instrument panel and part of the dash out in hopes of finding a slight rattle. Once the problem was solved, I plugged back together whatever wires/switches I disconnected and reassembled back to original (15 min job). After the 2nd start the check engine light and SRS light are now lit. Obviously, there is no problem with the car and everything was assembled the way I had it.
I decided to disconnect the battery for a few hours to try and clear the lights. This did solve the check engine light problem but the SRS light is still on as well as some anti theft feature that prevents me from turning on the radio. It says CoDe and expects me to punch in some password and since I dont know it, it then just says error1.
Anyone know how to clear the SRS light and fix my radio? I'm assuming its the factory set original code.
btw, its an 03 Acura TL-P. 67k

If you don't have a little card in your glove box that tells you the code, you'll have to pull the radio out and get the serial number off it. Then you can call the dealer and get the code. As for the SRS light, there are a couple threads explaining how to reset the SRS light using a jumper. You should be able to find them if you do a search for SRS light. Or is you can see if the dealer will reset it for you for free since there is a TSB on this. The TSB says that there is some sort of electronic interference (maybe a cell phone) that would cause the SRS light to come on. So if you have a copy of the TSB and call the dealer, maybe they will do it for free.
Look in your glovebox, on the side of it, in the manual or under the fuse panel under the hood (passenger side) for the code.

so i called acura, gave the last 6 digits of my vin, confirmed a few things and she said your code is 61351. I tried it 3 times and it did not work, now reads Err8 and everytime i try again, it'll read Err9 and so on.
I dont want to have to shell out for the dealer to take care of this but i also dont want to pull the radio, call the dealer and have them tell me the same numbers that dont work.
What should i do???

Sometimes you have to pull out the antenna connector on the rear of the radio in order get the code accepted. I had to do that when I installed an OEM 6-disc changer in my 1999 TL.
You might be able to do this without removing the radio if you can squeeze your hand behind the radio on the left side. (You'll still have to remove the side trim pieces.)
There are some other tricks for getting the radio to accept the code. Try a forum search.
Finally, are you sure that your car has the original radio? If not, you might have the wrong code.

Also, if you decide to remove the radio, here's a great "how-to" link for that:

I believe its the original although i am the 2nd owner. I really would have no way of finding out but I dont believe the radio is a common problem so I wouldnt see why anyone would replace it. Its a fairly new car with 65k. Anyway, I'll pull the radio out, see if any numbers are on it, if not, copy the serial # down and call the dealership. I'm just afraid there going to give me the same number, and the girl i spoke to was pretty confident that was the number for my vin and make, model, year car.
Normally the onye way that they can tell you by the VIN is if somebody already associated that radio S/N to that VIN. So if someone messed that up, then it could be wrong. Once you get the S/N and call, I would try plugging the radio back up without installing everything to make sure it works first. This way, if it doesn't work, you can troubleshoot a little more without having to pull everything back out. Removing the radio isn't that hard.
I actually got it working eventually. Taking out the radio was a little bit more of a job then i thought. The original code they gave me worked but I had to unplug the antenna wire, punch the code in, then put everything back together. Thanks for the help.
