One more engine oil question

I know it was discussed enough times to make you dead sick, but I just need a quick and accurate answer. I use regular engine oil and would like to put Mobil 1 Synthetic oil now and then probably during the spring/summer I would go back to regular. The question is, is that OK or should I just stick to one or the other without mixing?

Not a bad idea at all- use synthetic in the cold weather and regular oil in the summer. Won't hurt a thing. Just be sure to use the correct weight, like 5W-30 or whatever your owners manual says.

It is simple, the cost. I change it every 6K Km or about 3750 miles as per owners manual, which is BTW 5 times a year in my case. Now, I would like to put synthetic during the winter, just to give it extra protection.

As much as I like Mobil 1, you might want to try Valvoline MaxLife. (Yes, I know it's "for higher mileage cars" but that's just marketing.) Not as expensive as Mobil 1 and after several oil analysis' the Valvoline didn't break down as fast as Mobil 1 did and had a lot more moly in it (good for protection). Don't get me wrong, Mobil 1 is a great oil. But their newest blend doesn't seem to be all that great.

Give Valvoline MaxLife a try, you might like it. For me, Valvoline had my engine running quieter than Mobil 1 did. More notably, the valves were quieter.

Intresting, I wonder if Mobil 1 is the reason my car is very loud at cold starts and makes this clanking noise in the engine area. When car warms up the noise is gone.... I could hardly belive Mobil 1 could be the reason.... its only 20F, should be good enough for synthetics....
