Oil problems!

Ok, so im new to this site and I want to start giving it a go to see if it can help me with my problems in the future.
So my mom owns a 2003 Acura TL and she barely takes care of it and i use to take care of it but now im away at college so shes been letting things slide. She was suppose 2 change the oil back in december but still hasnt!! its been about 3 months over the date (but the miles is about 1200 off the due miles). So recently the check engine light has come on and i was wondering if this was the cause of not replacing the oil. plz help! thanks!

Not likely. Even if she was at 7500miles in Dec and now at 8700 won't matter much.

Check engine light is likely something else.

abs/tcs light are probably a wheel speed sensor. seems like she abuses the car. why not go and take 20min and change the oil for her? its not that hard. but then a again a girl working on a car is pretty hot

Autozone can usually read the codes for free. Might want to check what codes its throwing and got from there.

you dont want to know my guess== is your car in covered vin range for trans extended warranty?

Is it the check engine or the maitenance required (oil change due light -based on miles since last reset)

With out knowing a code all we are doing is guessing. Bring the car to a autozone and have the codes read. Then tell us and we can help. Most auto parts stores have teh equipment to do it and do it free

Before you were born, your mom owned a car. How did she service it than?

She should take it to a shop and have it inspected. It could be something more serious then a requirement for an oil change.
