Oil in intake manifold.

Is that normal to have oil in the upper intake manifold.
I have a 2002 TL Type-S with 50,157 miles on the clock.

I cleaned up the oil & removed the sooty deposits.
Is it ok to reuse the gasket?
Not sure on the bolt torque.
I don't have a service manual yet, difficult to get one.

Cleaner??? the first pic is oil and carbon, i used cleaner on that. The other 2 pics is the Polishing i did to the rough cast aluminum. That required a few hrs of sanding with the grinder and dremel

Wow, you made that manifold look brand new.

I just removed the top cover plate. Maybe when the weather warms up
i'll remove the intake.
I use a shop vac to pick up the loose carbon. And i used Brakleen for that
stubborn stuff.

Should have taken it off to properly clean out the EGR ports.

Dont get the lower 4 pics confused with the upper ones. They are 2 completely different things. the upper ones in most TLs are needed every 60k or so, many even less. Carbon builds up due to the design.
