I have about 6200 miles and the required maintnence light has been coming on. I contanted two dealers (cerritos and south coast) and they both told me that no service is required untill 7500 miles. I would like to believe them but the light continues to flash every time i start up the car. I dont know why they would lie becasue you have to pay for the service. Who knows the truth?

 

If not you "should" have it changed for the first time at about 3500 miles (at my dealer the first oil change/service is complimentary), then again at 7500. It really won't hurt to wait - but I wanted to get the "break-in" oil out.

 

i think it blinks for rite now and when u get to 7.5k then it would stay on so u don't need to get the oil change now

 

Yes i also got it changed at 3180 so is it necessary at 6000?

 

Change the oil and reset the light afterwards if it is not done by the Acura dealer. The TL Owner's manual contains the instructions to reset that light. Many previous posts here also provided the instructions to reset that light. I would do a tire rotation around 7,500.

 

so are you saying to change the oil at 6000 or not?

 

If you had it changed at 3100 then just wait till 7500 - it's alright!

 

I changed the oil and filter around 3,750 because the dealer gave me a free oil change. The dealer also put a windshield sticker that said 'The next service is 3,750' when I purchased my TL.

 

The maint. req. light blinks for a few hundred miles then goes solid.

 

In other words, its suppose to do that...also just follow the normal 3000 mile oil change schedule if your using petrol oil but if you put in Synthetic, do it every 6000 miles...you gotta know oil these days are very good...BMW actually breaks in the Engines from the production line, and then the car is delivered with Synthetic and BMW north america recommends that the first oil change be at 15,000...yes that was not a typo...they put in Mobil 1 synthetic and change every 15,000...

 

light goes on is not surprising...read the manual...it goes on to remind u after 6000miles...until u get the reset...
since ur area is nice and warm, 7500 miles is ok for ur car...don't be worrie...
