what kind of oil does the acura dealer usually use, or does it vary by dealer? Also, if there are better kinds of oil, what kind should I be using and is it possible to tell the dealer to use that oil. The reason I'm asking is i just took the car in for an oil change/service and it has been about 13.5k miles. Also had another question, do the dealers around your area give you loner cars? There is Metro and Thomas here in LA and Thomas does not give loner cars.

 

not all dealerships give out loaners b/c they don't have to....and I read the dealer uses whatever kind of oil is at the nearest gas station. But they do use Honda oil filters.

 

The dealer will put in any oil you want, and if they don't stock it, then you can provide it to them to put in.

 

WoW really!!! In that case, I'm giong in for an oil change soon, what would everyone consider the best type of oil to use for our cars?

One caveat to the oil, check with your dealer first because some might not be willing to put in what you want due to potential warranty issues...I change my own, so I never have this problem. Also, any shop will put in what you want if the dealer won't.
