Thumbs up Viper 550...

I definately recommend getting this alarm, or one that has the remote start for those of you in the coder states. I love the remote start so that you can come out and have the car all nice and toasty in the morning

No I didn't. I could have, but it is a real pain in the dairy aire to put in the remote start. I recommend you getting it installed professionally in case something does happen, you can just go back to them

Yes. Actually I did. I also got the interior lights to go on as well as added the trunk pop.

I'm kinda new to car alarms, but is it possible to just enhance the existing car alarm so that I can auto start the engine using my existing stock remotes ? And how much did you pay for the installation anyways ?

Excellent choice my man!!! I had my 550 put on a month ago or so and I'm absolutely loving it!! No more getting into a cold car in the mornings for me, or hot in the summer for that matter!! And to those people thinking about doing it themselves, word of advice...let someone who knows what they are doing do it. I know the owner of a local stereo shop who's been installing for many years, and he was kind enough to do it at his house for me on a Sat. and even knowing what he was doing, it took him around 6 hours to do!! But if you do try to attempt it, good luck and more power to you!!!

I don't think you can add remote start to the stock alarm. You're probably gonna have to go aftermarket for that feature.

That's right. I think it would be more of a pain than it is worth to try to figure it out as well

I paid 300 for the installation (which included the module needed for the chip in the key (which is about $60) and the trunk pop (which is also about 30 or 40)). I know the guy that did it and he also programmed everything for me on the remotes
