my $.02

I know that a lot of people would disagree with me, but at least for the first oil change, I would take it to the dealer. The first few thousand miles are the break-in period and I think it's best for the dealer to have a look at the car after that time to make sure that everything is still perfect.

just my opinion...

Well, Acura3200 does have a point that it might just be worth it for the dealer to check things over, but I wonder if they'll really spend the time checking over your whole car. Sure, they will top off your windshield washer fluid. Still, you usually have to point out a specific problem that arises before they would inspect it.

The owner's manual says to use 5W-30 motor oil for a regular TL. I think the TL type S uses 5W-20 oil, which is much harder to find. I personally, like any major brand (Valvoline, Mobil1, Castrol) of motor oil except for Pennzoil. Some people swear by using synthetic oils, but that is up to you if you want to spend the extra $ for them for claimed benefits that may or may not truly exist. Oh, remember to get regular oil changes from now on.

pennzoil

I've had more than one auto mechanic warm me about Pennzoil being lousy oil, so I avoid it just to be on the safe side.

You know you guys are right about taking it in for a first time thing with the dealer. Plus fahoumh brought up a good point about it being free the first time, also I want them to check out the breaks my ride is already shaking when I stop it in high speeds. I'm going to make them look into that...I just don't know about your experiences with the dealer but I try everything to avoid those guys. Maybe it's a Miami thing but I don't trust any of them with my ride.
Everytime I do an install here in Miami they sometimes ask for your address and I always give them 1234 S.W. 123 Street I had friends that after an install the same peeps go after his sh*t...Anyway I'm getting off the subject but you guys know what I mean...

I don't think all the dealers in the US offer the free oil change. Mine sure doesn't.

it's not up to the dealership whether or not you pay for the FIRST oil change....it's covered under Warranty from Acura.....if the coverage is the same in Canada as it is in the US and you had to pay for the first oil change, you got ripped, dude.....but remember: NOT ALL oil changes are covered.
