ohh man....need tips

being one handed -i cant get the daam shift knob off, ive used a leather belt for added torque but the daam thing broke the belt no joke my wife is gonna be pissed. any other ideas folks?????? im feeling pretty weak right now and ive got twice the strength i used to have in my laft hand -- i dont want to resort to the dremel..pls help

Get someone else to try, cause after a few times messing with it, i twisted mine off, it was a bitch, but i got it, you may not be that patient. so get someone else to give it a shot

thanx ill keep trying....maybe ill just "will" it off lol i gotta go buy my wife a new belt 'fore the wife gets home thanx for advise anymore advise ??

I wrapped the knob with a towel and then used a pair of vice grips just tight enough so they wouldn't slip. I also covered the jaws with some electrician's tape. It came off after a little effort and no damage to the knob. The vice grips will give you more leverage.

same thing i did.....which shift knob are you trying to get off the wood one or the leather one??....i know the wood one had little hex screws in it that need to be loosened first

.......helpful tip: try rubber. wrap thick (or wide?) rubber bands around it and try as hard as you can. that should do it. hope that helps bro

Well if that actually works, im gonna powder my hand and smack you! JUST FOR TRYING THAT NASTY ASS SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!

But YeH, what redlinen says why do you wanna get it off nice n easy if your replacing? or is it cause when you wana sell the car the knob looks good as new?

taking it off for learning experience ---used towel --it worked thx peeps-- looking for smaller knob to use what i can with my hand.

The TL-S shift knob is smaller than the wooden one. Might try that.

roadside bomb in iraq took 80% of the use of my dominate hand shrapnel severed all nerves in my right arm including the artery 3months in hospital and one year later ive regained the use of my pinky and ring finger thats it.

yeah the for the last one, i had to go get my final surgery but i heard a whole 3-4 people showed--that would have been a 2 hr drive for 2 hrs of waiting for everyone else --lol

i thought my knob was stuck on there real tight too. one day i turned it REAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLL L hard and it came undone
