"Official" RANT Thread

I'm making this thread for those who are frustrated with their TL (as I am right now).

So rant away!!

My situation....
I bought my Acura about a year ago because I was sick and tired of the stupid problems I had with my Pontiac GTP.... stupid problems like wheel bearings @ 40K miles, transmission glitches (eventually a rebuild), electrical problems (like radio wouldn't turn on, losing dash lights randomly, heater fan shutdown, etc.), the MAF Sensor Failed one day.... I figured these were just the typical Domestic Auto issues and I was sick of making monthly visits to the dealership. I heard Honda made a quality product and what better than a "high-end" Honda, right?

Now, a year later my Acura is giving me the same stupid issues. My car just went in for a blown ignition and bad battery. It's a 2002 and it has the new ignition design but I had an auto starter put in. I guess the auto starter unit blew the ignition and I'm now getting stiffed with the bill. Plus, if I want the auto starter again, I gotta pay for a new install. Acura had to cut the whole unit out to fix the problem. On top of all this, now my car is surging.... especially when it's cold.... that's probably some stupid sensor. My front end needs to be aligned... it's has a nasty pull to the left. My car has already been returned for new brakes (covered for some reason), the timing belt recall, and now I need to schedule an appointment for the oil jet install on the transmission. This shit just doesn't end and I've come to the conclusion that it really doesn't matter what you're buying these days.... IT'S ALL CRAP!!!

no only the stuff made here in america! american workers only care about the paycheck they recieve and not the quality of their work.

164,000 miles on mine and the only problem ive had was a ac compressor that went bad early on replaced under warranty, and 3 trannies. far less problems and little anoying things than in my gm cars

Agreed. However, the Japanese factories here in N.America are doing well because most don''t have Unions to screw things up.

The Toyota Corrola is made here in Ontario and is the best built car ever. Then we have the FORD Oakville factory making the WINDSTAR...well its reputation says it all.

very true, but none the less we dont have the same work ethic as they do in japan. cars that came from there were built alot better.

Yeah I agree, it seems as though Japanease and Europeans are way more passionate about their cars. American cars are all crap and cheaply built by workers who dont give a shit

Well how can u blame Acura for an aftermarket part that you installed on your car??? The auto starter was not meant to be put it. It isnt Acura's fault for that one.

AGREED! Unions will be and continue to be the downfall of the American manufacturuaing and service sectors. For example, our state toll booth workers in PA decided to go on strike last week! I guess they felt the average salary of $21/hr. wasn't enough. Or, the fully paid medical benefits.

$21/hr for making change!!!!!!!!!! Makes me sick.

They should all be fired and told to go find another job making that much for standing and doing nothing all day.

That is exactly why I will never buy a domestic auto. UNIONS

I agree with the Japanese work ethic. I work for a Japanese company and they love it when they get to come here for a few years to work. It's also a big accomplishment when they're asked to come over. "It's very nice to only have 12-14 hour days here, plus most weekends I can be at home with my family".

I'm not blaming Acura... I was just ranting about crappy products in general. Ignition / auto starter problem aside, my Acura is becoming a less reliable car than my GM was. 34,000 miles and I've had more issues with my TL than my GTP at 34,000 miles. I'm just feeling a little discouraged at this point.
