Unhappy OEM Audio Issues

All,

I've checked the entire forum, as well as the entire internet, and can't find this issue explained ANYWHERE!! About a year ago, I decided to add an aftermarket sub/amp to my stock Bose system. I used a RCA line converter from the amp behind the rear seat, and connected it to my aftermarket amp, and everything sounded perfect!

Then my George Costanza syndrome kicked in...

Figuring I could save a buck by bypassing the RCA line converter, I got a pair of RCA cables and cut the wire, and connected the wires directly to the OEM amp (behind the seat) and connected the other end (RCA) to the aftermarket amp. Well, not only did it not work, but when I connect the OEM sub to the OEM amp, my OEM sub doesn't work. I keep getting this constant bump...bump...bump that I just can't figure out. Has anyone ran into this issue before? I figure I need to replace the amp, but it's gonna be around $80, so I want to make sure that's the issue. Thanks in advance!
