OBX SS vs Ceramic

Are there any difference in performance between the OBX Stainless Steel vs the Ceramic. Previously i read it some where about the Ceramic don't give as Much HP as the SS.

I would be the ceramic that started peeling, ermaic coating is hard to make hold up, and especially where the material its bonded to is constantly changing shape, ceramic can hold up great under heat and pressure, but it is very brittle. Its also abraisive, but fhor this it does not matter. Anyway, Stainless Steel warps when it get hot and cools and it gets worse as it repeatedly does this. 304 (what the headers are probably made of, I'm 90% sure here) is the most common grade, the cheapest, but it also warps the least of the 300 series, which is the series that can handle the high heat coming off of the exhaust. 400 series would not be a good idea here.

Again, the family biz is a machine shop, what can I say?

It's not about HP...but durability. I'd stay away from Ceramic.

You've been warned.

Gilgamesh, generally how long will a stainless steel header last? About 3 -4 years?

Edgaland, How long have u had them headers. They seem to rust pretty bad.

I have SS. Those pics are from a friend of mine. He installed his headers around Nov-Dec I think. OBX headers are relatively new...so even the oldest of headers won't even be more than 6 months old. BTW...this was mostly driven on salt caked roads in Philly, so that didnt' help much either.

Doh! Saturday...everyone's brain must be set to relax mode. Re-read..."Those pics are from a friend of mine. He installed his headers around Nov-Dec I think." :p

I'd be pissed if they were mine. Hell...I was pissed for my friend when he showed it to me.

Yeah I know they're not yours, but what brand are they? OBX? Ceramic or SS?

Motion, you should be able to get about 3-4 years, probably even the life of the car out of headers, usually 304 won't warp that bad. The ceramic chipping away is what happened in that pic, and OBX was cheap about it and put the ceramic on steel not SS...thus the rust.
