O2 vs O3 dilemna

Hello All new here...
Buying another Acura after the wife trashed the old one lucky everyone was safe...

Need an opinion on these...

02 TL-P Beige on tan
41000 km
factory warranty ran out except for extended tranny
driven by an 82 year old (true I checked)
some minor scratches, dents...noted rusting on both rear calipers....wood chips in the trunk (used to lug firewoods occassionally) small tear on the driver seat which has been fixed
rust proofed....engine bay and under chassis mint!
car came from Vancouver to Ontario
clear Carfax
being sold by a local independent dealer
$20,000 canadian plus 14% tax firm

03 TL-P grey on black leather
55000 km
5000 km or until Nov06 warranty left bumper to bumper
rest of warranty in effect
driven by a middle age businessman
no rustproofing, noted rusting underchassis and sway bar plus stone chips
door dents on both sides approximately 2 inches
few surface sratches noticeble because of the dark colour
2 stone chips on the windshield
fading/weathered (shiny)plastic pillar "sash"piece on both sides
mint interior, backseat never been sat on except driverseat with some minor wear
rear bumper repainted from parking lot accident
Clear carfax
$20500 firm plus 8% tax on private sale firm price

Took both for a test drive, 02 seems a little nicer to drive but I think I will be happy with either one.

Ok fire up the "opinions"

sorry for the long post...

The 2002 is obviously the better deal. It costs less, has less miles, and is covered under the extended transmission warranty. Plus, it seems to have been better taken care of.

i agree the 02 sounds like a better deal just i perfer the look of the 03. but if thats the case the 02 is just a blank canvas to prove that a beige tl can look good.

I'd go with the 02 beige, well not me personally, but I vote that you go with the 02 beige.

Also, I thought Thousand Island was just a salad dressing.

Gold looks good on our Camry, but looks like shit on a 02-03 TL. That's a horrible combo. My 02 is Anthracite.

You might get a better deal in the states

are you not allowed to buy here and take it to canada?

check out cars.com lots of low mile good deals, and you might be able to get a Type S.

Not worth buying from the states with duties and taxes.

Thanks for the reply guys, what a welcome for my first post.

I am leaning towards the 03 colour my wife loves plus I talked to the owner who now lives in Zurich. Got the background check from Carfax and Kingston Honda. I will be taking the car for final check at honda tomorrow. Any tip's on what to look for?

I wanted the beige initially but after numerous phone calls to the orig owner with none returned I gave up. This car is mint mechanically but the bumper has some signs of "parking by sound" also have some resistance on how the car was kept by the 82 y/old after calling Richmond Acura with only one service done there.

Taking the 03 would give me about $1200 in tax savings as well.

Still it could change by tomorrow....

The dressing was actually named after the Thousand Islands
