Great poll!!! this may start to give us an idea of the actual percentage of tranny failures in 2nd gen cars..Is it possible to make this sticky??

 

3rd one just died completly today

 

I am on my 2nd tranny on my 99 TL. Replaced at ~91K miles. Hopefully this one will last.

 

Hey jazz thanks for the compliment I am just trying to see what percentage of the people are getting their tranny's replaced because just reading the posts it seems like damn near everybody has had a tranny failure.

I agree, it does seem like nearly everybody is having problems. An effort must be made to document this problem and try to make an accurate estimate of the percentage of cars that have tranny failures. If we had accurate data maybe (with help and media attention) Acura/Honda would be forced to make repairs. Now they are just hoping our cars will run out of warranty so we will no longer be a problem for them and they can drop us like rocks. Everybody needs to work together on this problem, our cars are getting older everyday.

 

03tl ...2 failures ...the last one caused an accident with injurie's .

04TL ...Has had symptoms of failure ,has yet to be determined ,it has not replicated itself ,the cat has 20,400 some odd miles right now ,took delivery Dec,5 2003.

 

Ok.... My typo's are caused by.....! I'm typing with my keyboard inside the drawer of my Armoir! My hands are little and my wrist's are draped over the drawer ..so CAT in my prior post was supposed to be CAR!


If you see further typo's ,this is the cause..and yes ............ It has been already been verfied that the keyborad position was the cause of these typo's ........... No further investigation/speculation needed..


Too bad the cause of the defective tranny's were that simple!
