No such adapter made, it has to be all custom. Got one side finalized as far as mounting goes. The other side won't take long at all.

This was the single hardest part so far. Figuring out how and where to mount the mounting trays. I am really glad Audi made them and am happy I spent the money on them

You were definitely right when you said "no turning back now". Can you post a pic of the headlamps side by side for a size comparison? Just curious.

Size wise they are almost identical. Problem is is audi has them way out to the corner of the car where it curves and our bumper and front end dont curve as much and they designed the frame work to hold our headlight where the Audi doesnt have that.

For reference, theirs sits in front of frame and way forward.

Yeh I figured they had to be roughly the same. fwiw, I would have picked the same mounting point..if it was too close to the center it would look "dorky" and take away from the natural curvature of the headlight.

I had to move the filler neck back some on the washer fluid bottle. I need to epoxy the hole shut yet

Still needs some clean up grinding and some finish welding but the majority of that part is done. Tomorrow ill tackle the hood extensions i need to put on to cover part of the lights.

Jesus Christ that's some serious modifications. I didn't think it would have been so involved.

Funny, I never knew the windshield washer fluid container was so big.

I have to say I noticed this bumped to the top of the first page, started reading, laughed at all the teasing that went on knowing that I would be able to see the big surprise whenever I liked. The custom exhaust looks awesome but this custom headlight mod is insane. Quite the pioneering effort. Do you hope to have it all painted before the meet or is that wishful thinking?

Talk about bringing the car into the future. I wonder how many people will wonder what the hell they're looking at when they drive by. This is pretty awesome and the headlight choice is much better than say the member who did the Lexus GS front end I think it was.

This is the custom project thread of 2011 so far. Kris, I'm sure the finished look will be nothing short of stunning based on the progress we're all seeing.
