Now i am worried about my hid's!!

Whats up? just found out the guy around the corner from me who has a 1999 tl had his fronty bumper ripped off last night and they stole his headlights!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i just got my car!!!

I guess if there is a good thing about this is he asked me if i needed any parts since hes gonna "get rid of the car" since the last time his hid's were stolen the insurance compant told him they wouldnt replace them again???

Even though he didnt tell me, i think hes doing an insurance job.

He does have navi in there......this is one of the moral dilemmas....lol

Im familiar with a story like this, I also own a 2000 Nissan Maxima and I visit the Maxima forums and some of the members there said they had their HID "kits" stolen and their fenders ripped apart .... so its not just the TL's, its also the Maximas and other models.

yes i hear about the maximas too. is there anything we can do to prevent this? also do all insurance companies only replace it once, that would be horrible.
someone told me about a alarm for the hid's???

Nope, nothing we can do to prevent it, if they want them they will take them since its pretty easy.
I think there is a possibility to wire the stock alarm to be more sensetive when tinkered with.

Damn where you live? I don't see why an insurance company will say they will replace it only once.

they ripp it off quick by using a crowbar, that's why they get some of the screws out, and the rest of the tabs are usually broken.... if you look on ebay every now and then, they have headlights on there, and if they are going for cheap, most likely they'll say they have some broken tabs...

It takes less than a minute to pry the lights out.. they could care less about the headlight housing, they want the bulb and ballast boxes... that's all. I had mine stolen in NJ at a rest stop off the parkway when I went in to take a leak. Came out and they were gone.

My insurance rates never went up when mine got stolen, nor did they deny paying for them should it happen again. I guess it depends on what is included in your policy, which is why I always have had full coverage on all my cars.

At the Nissan dealership where I work I see Altimas and Maxiams come in all the time with both headlights missing. That's $600+ plus per headlight from the dealership. Ouch!

you all can get a nice viper alarm... perhaps a 791... cough cough, and have the shock sensor real sensitive

but honestly, a simple shock sensor would alleviate a lot of worry.

Yes. Park someplace safe Park in different positions as to make it harder and less noticable that you have them. If your insurance cop said that they wernt going to cover the next ones id drop them. The only thing you can dofor an alarm would be like shock sensors, but most people are immune to alarms going off and it doesnt scar thieves much

an alarm with a two-way transmitter will alert you to it going off, though.

my friend used to have a 2002 TL (silver/no nav) auto.

his hid was stolen 4 times (4 times all replaced) and got them stolen

he gave up later and jus drove around without front bumper for few weeks - - ;

btw, it's Northerm Jersey, about 15 minutes away from NYC.

nothing he could do about...

F*CK! so today i come back from a day of fishing, which btw was completely dead. So i park my car on the street i live, which is typical and is 1st choice since it is the street i live on. This was around 8ish and so i go home for a bit and about an hour and half later i go to my car get in my car and as i fill up the tank and once i start the car i signal left which was the first time i had to signal left since i got in the vehicle 5 min ago. I notice that my signal is blinking really fast and im just like sh*t, the guy fills up my tank and now my left signal is blinking fast. so i play around with the hazard lights and signal left right left right like a maniac hoping it would go back to normal. Finally i get to my destination i step out of the car and the first thing i do is go to my rear left tail light, and i starting tapping it a bit, kuz i heard that when it is blinking faster than normal some gentle persuasion would make it go to normal. Then a guy says, ur left headlight is out,and im just ahhh great. I walk to the front of the car and im like HOLY SH*T!!. My jaw just dropped and all i was saying in my head was whyyy me??? So now i have no left headlight. The entire thing is just gone, headlight housing, ballast, HID; everything. and to top it off, my fender right where it meets the hood is bent of course. What a way to end the day. Thats Brooklyn for ya! and now wtf am i supposed to do, jus fuggedaboutit. DAMN THIEVES! I really hope insurance pays for it, since i am financing the car, it is under full insurance. But now im just paranoid because i got it stolen on my street, and i have no parking space in my building lot. This is one Sh*tty day!

It falls under your comprhensive coverage, so no sweat
Get it to a few body shops for estimate and call the insurance
Make a Police report too
