Notice something w/ Nav

I recently took a trip up to Connecticut to visit some family and I noticed that sometimes my Nav screen would change colors. It had some purple in it and the clock turned red. I wasn't even able to see the time. Has this happened to anyone else or do you know what it could be? I think it may be when I have no signal for my nav but I am not sure.

That wasn't it. The colors actually changed. It wasn't just a dimming, the color of the numbers on the clock changed from yellow to red and teh parts that are normally blue were purple. It was kind of weird...not sure why it did it though.

Were you wearing polarized sunglasses? If you tilt your head side to side the colors on the navi screen will change.

this is typical w/ LCD screens when the ribbon cable is bad or something has a bad contact. In this case perhaps the soldier point(s) where the ribbon cable connects is bad. Please note that i am assuming it is a ribbon cable since i have never taken my navi apart... most LCD screens like laptops and such use ribbon cables of some kind, so that is my diagnosis.

Warranty should cover it. if you don't have a warranty, you could probably take it apart and just examine the soldier points to the actual LCD screen. i would just press it in places to see if you can recreate the problem. thats half the battle right there.

I guess I never really noticed that they change. I'll have to check that out.

I think I will try to recreate the problem before I take it apart like you suggested. It's only happened when I took that trip and since I've been back, hasn't happened again. Thanks for the info guys.
