Is this normal?

I did a full tank at chevron which cost $32.00 and then it lasted 245 miles. Is that bad, normal, or good? Is there any other ways to get good gas mileage?

I get 20 MPG in the city always. That is usually 95% city driving also. Just keep the RPM's below 3500 or so and you should see a big difference. When you get above VTEC range, the engine drinks gas like a V8.

245 miles to what? How much gas did you fill up with on the next tank?? That's the only way to figure it out.

Next time you fill up, top it off, and reset the trip meter. On the next fill up, top it off again, and get how much gas you put in.

Divide the mileage on the trip meter (from the previous fill-up to the next) by the amount of gasoline. That'll give you how many miles you got per gallon.

Damn, that sucks... man.... (saying that based on the assumption that you pumped 13-14 gallons, where the light came on)

do you do a lot of city driving or a lot of fast take-offs?? You probably need to check the air pressure in your tires, and get them up to 32-34psi. Check your fuel filter, see if shit is clogged up or something, and lastly, check your sparks and see if any are misfiring.... good luck...

i get the same...then; i suspect the gasoline from that gas station to be crap. otherwise, 245 miles to the tank at 14 gallons is low. i usually average a little over 300 miles per tank at 14.3-14.6 gallons.

That's pretty bad mileage, I get around 20 -23 in the city and about 26-28 hwy to 13 or 14 gallons. Maybe try to run some fuel system/injector cleaner through, change your filter unless you have a CAI, try switching gas stations. My

Horrible.

I tend to get at least 350 to 400 per tank. Sometimes more on a long trip

Ya, i drive with a heavy foot most of the time and most of my driving is highway and i get about 300-310 per tank. I really don't care about MPG but i started to watch it when i noticed my tranny acting stupid again to make sure it wasn't costing me more and more besides the time and resources it takes me to keep bringing my car in..grrr

Thats weird it might be bad gas, because I have noticed a significant difference in gas from different locations. However with that being said it could be any one of a multitude of things mentioned above IMO.

I have the same exact problem. I went through a tank before without hitting vtec at all. 50/50 city/highway and still got only 260 miles till the light. I'm bringing it in for recall checks tomorrow. My friend works at Acura of Burlingame so I'll see if he can get the service dept. to hook me up with a fuel controller. I bought this car a little over a month ago at 34k from a dealer. Do you guys think they changed the air filter and fuel filter before?

Yeah, please post back any results from your trip to the dealer. I have had my car for about a year now and I consistently get about 200 miles until the fuel light comes on with 100% city driving. That comes out to no more than 15 mpg, which is really low.

I've already had two tune-ups, checked my tire pressure, fuel injector cleaner. I just ordered a K&N air filter and will try that next.

245 is kinda bad, you really must love VTEC'ing.

but whoever said they got 350-400! jesus you must drive like it's Sunday every day.
On average city/hwy I've noticed about 300-320. Which is still above 20mpg.

like other said be4, keep ur rpm's in the range of 3000 - 3500 and if your really trying to save gas keep your rpm on the highway steady around 2k
