Noob Question about HIDs

Noob Question about HIDs

I noticed a lot of folks have listed the type of light they have 3000k and etc. How the hell do you know that? I looked at my lights and can't tell. I wanna upgrade and I want to know what I should be looking for before i go spend my money....

off of another site...

1500°K - Candlelight
2680°K - 40w halogen bulb
3000°K - 200w halogen bulb
3200°K - Sunrise/Sunset
3500-4300°K - Most Xenon Superwhite Bulbs
5500°K - Sunny daylight around noon
6000°K-7500°K - Overcast Sky, Some true HID Systems
8000°K-9000°K - Sunny blue sky, Some true HID Systems
10,000°K - 12,000°K - Purple hues at sundown

stock, I believe, is 4300 (correct me if I'm wrong). A lot of people like 5000 - 8000. Just depends. 5000 (which I went to) is bright white and really lights up the road. The higher ones are more blue / cool looking but they won't be as bright. Just depends on what you like.

i never understood those charts... my oem bulbs have blue in them... color charts always say 4300 is white with some yellow

do you buy just the bulbs or do u need the whole unit?
The stock bulbs are like $100 so how much are those brighter hid's?
Forgive me for me being a idiot?
Or are you guys talking bout high beams?

Kaixen from our vendor Excelerate (www.excelerateperformance.com) was under 100 for the pair shipped. Has the 5000, 6000, etc. Just get the bulbs. These are the low beam HIDs. You'll also need a security torx bit (#20 I think) to access the bulb (the drivers side is a PITA to get to). A few DIYs on the site if you search.

if u havent changed ur bulbs since the car was purchased then more than likely ur bulbs are starting to go...my stock Osrams looked like 8K's becuz they were getting old...i would invest in some new ones and u will notice a HUGE difference...
