Noise with Comptech Sways !!!

Okay took my car into the dealer because of the tranny recall and since it was in I told them about this noise I am hearing from the rear when I go over bumps. Sounds like my freakin car is 20 years old. They told me that it they think it was because of the bushings from the Comptech Sways I had on.
Is this true? And is this some b.s. excuse so they don't have to deal with it? Let me know.
Thanks,
Kam...

If you want to counter their claim get a second opinion by taking it to a different mech.

If the sound only comes from speedbumps ... the bushings might be the culprit. Use silicone grease and they should be good to go. Happened to me after 3 months with the CT sways. Got them installed by the Acura dealer and they took care of it fast. Haven't had a problem with it since.

Try taking it to another dealership. They might take care of it.

ALRIGHT!!!!

I'm chiming in on this bullshit topic. When I first got my sways put on, things were cool for about 2-3 weeks. Then, I started to experience the SAME bullshit that Kam is. I let it stay like that for another 2 weeks & it just got worse. So, I went back to the guy who installed him and said that he just needs to re-lube the bushings w/ White Lithium Grease. So, he did, and things were perfect . WRONG! A few weeks later, SAMEEEEE bullshit happened. So about a 1.5 weeks ago, I decided to buy some white lithium grease and do this shit myself. I finished doing it, and things were great. Now just today, the fucking noise is back. These swaybars are driving me insane. What the fuck do we do?

I've used the white teflon tape that Comptech sends with the sways. Wrapped it around the bar several times (20) and don't hear the noise. First time I wrapped it about 10 times on each side and this lasted for about 6 months. You can buy it at any hardware store. It is plumbers tape.

I had the same problem when I installed mine. If you had them installed, you may want to look under the car and check to see if the end links are tight. Mine were not. I used an allen wrench and an regular wrench to tighten them. When the stock bars where removed, the end links were disconnected. Putting them back on requires the allen wrench to keep the bolt from spinning. It is a greased fitting inside the link and there is no other way to tighten nut on the link. It's easy to miss if you don't know what you're looking at. If you need a picture, let me know and I'll make you one that is labeled.

Kam,

I'll try to get you the picture tomorrow. My wife has the car at work right now. In the mean time, if you can jack-up the car a bit, crawl under and locate the end of the sway bar. At the end of the bar is a bolted connection. This connection is tied to the lower control arms. You can't miss it! Here is a link to cardomain.

http://www.cardomain.com/member_page...=184466&page=6

This link will give you the pictures you're looking for. The fourth picture down shows the front sway bar end. The eighth picture shows you how the allen wrench is used. The regular wrench goes over that one and seats onto the nut. The 15th and 16th picture shows you how this is done to the rear bar. The pictures don't show you the regular wrench being seated on the nut, use your imagination to do what I'm describing and you'll get the correct result. Simply hold the allen wrench still while you turn the regular wrench to tighten the nut. The bolt that the allen wrench holds will spin inside the endlink if you just tried to tighten the nut without the allen wrench. Check out those pics and let me know if you need anything else from me. Just short of driving out there I'll help as much as I can. It was annoying to me when I had this problem. I can only imaging how your doing.

Is it a clunk sound or a squeaking sound?

If it clunks, then the end links are loose. If it squeaks, then you need to take off the two bushing mounts (the end links don't need to come off -- you can lube the bushings with them attached), spray between the bushing and the sway bar.

I've had my sway bars for several months now, and I ditched the teflon tape per Austin's advice and used white lithium grease instead. I haven't had any noises come from my sway bars.
