I just came back from a trip to Singapore and Malaysia. I saw Nissan Cieferro (Infiniti I30s) and Lexus ES300s, Mercedes C- class, Audi A4s, and of course, BMW 3 Series there but no Honda Inspire/Acura TLs there at all. There are Honda Accords there but no TLs. Seems like the Inspire/TL is not quite the world class car like the others.

No INSPIRE there. But look carefully there is an ACURA 3.5RL they call the Honda Legend. It is not selling as will as the Lexus LS400 (They are priced about the same)

I was in Hong Kong and I didn't see much of anything other than Mercedes. There was a Lexus or two. I don't remember seeing any Acuras at all.

In Korea, hehe, nothing but Hyundai, Kia, Daewoo, and a Samsung or too. It was funny to see some idiot US Military soldier driving his American corvette about the streets of Seoul.

they have TLs in Taiwan. just not through dealer, but through parallel importers that ship rare cars over. those cars are not certified by the factory, but it's certified by the importer which has its own maintainance shops. I've seen 1 black TL in Taiwan. the cost i believe is about the same as a GS300 in Taiwan.

I'm in HK right now and I've seen about 10 TL's so far, they all have foglights like the Saber and have orange tailights. Acura is not a popular brand in HK. People all go for the status symbol like Mercedes and BMW. And young guys drive Skyline, WRX, Evo, etc.

Think about this way..."I couldn't see TL there...." That doesn't mean TL won't sell there.....Maybe you didn't had a chance to find one....

I saw my Hong Kong tailor yesterday (first time he's come to Boston in years! I can't believe I've been wasting my money on machine-made suits...), and when he saw my car keys, he asked, "TL?"

I thought that Acura was a brand in the US, Canada, and HK. Am I right?

in HongKong and Taiwan, the TL is being sold by importers who import them from USA. Therefore HK and Twn don't get the Honda Inspire, but rather just the Acura 3.2 TL.

So if you see 3.5RLs in HK and Taiwan that's because they have them through the real Honda Dealer therefore badged Honda Legend. But imported TLs are Acuras. (alot of people in HK badge their Legends with Acura anyways... to look prestegious.)

There is an Acura importer in TaiChung..
however, with such listing price on TL, people can simply buy a Lexus GS300..
tell me which one u'll pick then?

SMARTER, that's a tough call. Picking the TL is easy when it is priced substantially lower than Lexus but if they were the same I would probably go with the GS300 because of Lexus' prestigious name and reputation for quality even though that would mean giving up the SportShift.

But Lexus carries a more prestigous brand image. In the Far East (& I don't mean Jersey) Prestige is everything. I'd drive a Lexus

They do have the TL in Taiwan and HK. But I think I had rather get something else over there.

I tried to expalin to my dad what Acura TL is, but he thinks that it's somewhat like a higher end limited edtion Honda Accord.
