no brake lights?

my car is falling apart!! i was working on my radio and when i got done i realized that my brake lights no longer work, and my instrument lights didnt work. so i figured SOME how i blew two fuses. no big deal. i pulled the fuse panel and i realized that they both use the same fuse.. even better. but the fuse wasnt blown. then i got worried, i switched it out anyway. and still, neither works. what else can it be?

did you hook up your illumination wire correctly? We did a Clarion radio on my friend's Accord V6 and there were 2 orange wires on the Clarion. We hooked both these orange wires to the orange wire on the harness. When we plug the radio in, all the instrument lights, brake lights, or parking lights wouldn't go on. But in our case, the fuse would keep blowing... put in a new fuse, turn on the headlight, and the fuse would blow... hope this can help u...

ok. i still havent figured out what this could be. i didnt splice into any wires that should have affected this, and the fuse is still intact. any other suggestions

the only thing i can think of if nothing works is that you have a fuse blown or something got accidently unplugged

A dumb thing to ask, but have you tried unplugging the radio and check to see if the brake lights and instument lights work again? If after unplugging the radio, the lights work, then it's got to be the radio wiring... if the lights still don't work... then it could be a plug or could be loose wiring somewhere...

ive tried pretty much everything. the fuse was the first thing i checked, cause im not an idiot. the fuse IS NOT blown.i unplugged the radio. the fuse was still fine, nothing worked. i unhooked the whole harness and the fuse was still fine, nothing worked. its possible that something got unplugged, but where, and what can i do to locate where the malfunction is.

how about a ground? did you undo any ground wires and maybe one didnt get put on? to have all those bulps not light up something has to be unpluged or a fuse blown, you said you checked the fuse. id recomend checking all of them. both fuse panels and the one under the hood.

ok. i guess you can say im an idiot. i went through all the fuses on the drivers side, the passanger side, and i read all the fuses under the hood. none of the abbreviations of the fuses under the hood sounded right, so i decided it couldnt be any of those. i got really frustrated, and just started pulling fuse after fuse and finally i found the blown one. it was the "small light" or something. apperantly, the small light controls all the lights in my car. thats stupid. you can lock up or delete this thread if you want. thanks guys
