I've noticed that when i leave the key in my ignition, and then open the door, i'm not getting the warning beeps anymore. Any ideas on why the noise has disappeared?

Do you get the door is open alarm? Maybe your door switch is stuck in the closed position?

I'm not positive with a 2G, but there are usually 2 types of door sensor switches. There are the type that are a little post that stick out of the car-side door frame, and there are some that actually have something to do with the hinge itself.

Basically consider it like the light in your fridge. You open the door, and there should be a little rocker or button that pops out when you open the door - and the light comes on.

Basically the same principle with your doors. The switch that tells your car that the door is open is either stuck and not popping out when the door opens (maybe the grease hardened up or something?) - or the switch itself went bad and is no longer working.

Sorry if I don't have any further details for you, but you will need to find out where the door pin switch is and see if it is stuck. You may also want to check your other doors - my guess is they work just fine. The door switch controls your "door open dinger", dome light, and it could possibly stop you from locking your car with keyless entry if it thinks your door is open (3G TL's do this)

does ur light come on when the door is open? this happened to me, dealer fixed it for free cause i was still under waranty. be carefull cause if it is the door switch, ur door might lock automatically even with the key in the ignition.
