Nitrous update....

As many of you know, I have installed a 100 shot on my TL type S. The system was installed in April and we upped the shot in June.

I have now run about 20 bottles through the system. I have the big 15 lb bottle so thats a ton of nitrous the car has seen. The car has performed flawlessly in that time. There has been no engine damage and I could uninstall the complete setup in under two hours and you would never know it had ever been on the car.

I have made well over 100 passes down at Gainesville. I can get about 11 to 12 runs before I run out of nitrous. By the way, I see some of the other people talk about going to that track but I have never seen another TL run there and I went about 20 times this year. When are you guys going?

I consistantly turn 13.9 at 102 mph quarter mile times. You could set your watch to it.

So for anyone looking for a cheap power adder that is easy to remove and will not damage your car if you install it properly, the nitrous is the way to go.

About $1200. We had to splice into the coil pack to get a tach signal. We installed a MSD setup. I have pills that turn the nitrous on at 3000 rpms and shuts it off at 6900.

If you just wanted to set one up to operate when you pushed a button you could do it for far less. Mine is totally automated. Once I arm the unit it comes on at the preset engine rpms.

Man, you could make a little bit of money just by bracket racing.

Since G'ville is closed until Spring, and since SCTL and some other guys have been talking about meeting at the strip one Wednesday night, we probably will start going to Orlando Speed World......

That is still oen of the cleanest NO2 installs I have seen. Those Stage 6 guys do good work...

You don't need to spray or turn super-fast times to do well at bracket racing. Even a slow car can win, with consistency and a good driver. That's the beauty of bracket racing.

Nice! post pics.
Just curious, do you have headers and exhaust installed? Might go even faster!

No. The amount headers and exhaust cost would not justify the minimal gain - if any I would see.

Plus I was going for stealth and easy removal. I know my tranny will blow sooner or later and I want to take all the crap off when it goes in for the replacement.

Pretty pathetic that I have to plan for that eh? They should have recalled the damn cars and eliminated the fear that we all have about blowing up our transmissions.

I like the idea that once your arm it it comes on at the preset rpm levels. Now if you left it armed how long would the bottle last?

It would depend on how often you took it past the rpm level that its set to go off at.

On a side note, you wouldn't want to do that. The psi in the lines is so high that if you left it pressureized all the time I'm sure it would blow off in a short period of time. Thats why nitrous systems have a purge.

Flip the switch when you want it, then turn it off and purge when your done.
