A nice mod for my old TL crew (Faslane and Fast Pass Users......)

I thought I would share this simple mod with you.

For those of you who use Fastlane in MA, Fast Pass in NY and any other type of toll transmitter this is a nice mod to get that dam transmitter off of your windshield and not have to take the thing out of your glove mox everytim you go through a toll.

I went to Fastlane and requested an external transmitter. It is supposed to be mounted on your license plate bracket, however, many of you don't have your front bracket and it is easy to steal if left on the front plate. I decided to mount mine behind my grill using zip ties. It works great and the windshield eye sore is gone.

Here are pics of with the hood up and down.

Good luck and I hope you appreciate this as much as I do!

Oh and sorry for the crappy pic quality, I need a new digicam!

if it's an external transmitter, wouldn't it have to be weather proof?

It is an external transmitter, so it is in fact water proof.

Did it cost anything to go from the internal to the external transmitter?? Did you give them back the internal one??
I like the idea of this....I still keep my Fastlane under my radio because I don't want to attach it to my windshield....any recommendations where to put it in the TL? I'll have to look under the hood to see if there is a good place for it.....thanks bmw74!

I just walked into the place in Weston and asked for an external transmitter. They are supposed to cost $35, but the guy just exchanged (internal transmitter) with me and said if I broke it, I would have to pay for the next one. As for a place to mount it, I would try to put it behind the grille.
