Nice Light Rims, Pics!

Thinking about these. BBS RK At 18x7.5 they are only 19.5Lbs, while I believe stock is around 27Lbs. $399

Also these SSR GT1s at 17x7.5 are only 17.5Lbs!! I could go with a little wider tire and better rubber than the stock POS here. $299 a wheel. This wheel in 18x7.5 or 18x8 is $399. not sure how much weight the size up ads to them. Anyone have these, can you feel this much weight loss on this rotating mass?

weights were given by tirerack. Which wheel for a ABP TL-S?

i like. . . .

I like the second one better. of course that is if you wanna go for a more sporty look. The first one is like almost mesh, but not enough.. . just my opinion. .

The BBS ones are okay.. but I like them.. alot of Bimmers have those wheels..

But I have always been a fan of the SSR GT1 wheels.. Rice1304 has them on his 99TL.. but I think they were 18"..

the 17" looks good on this wheel because the spokes make it look bigger than it really is.. but you can't go wrong with 18"
I believe the offset of these is +45

a knockoff brand that looks like the SSR is the ACE spada wheels, I don't know if the offset is high enough..

If I go 18" with about the same aspect ratio on the tires as stock, will it decrease the wheel gap? Not sure I want to lower with the OEM body kit and all.

Also, both of these are supposed to be valid TL applications.

FYI... stock rims are around 24lbs (I think 24.5 to be exact). Here's another little tidbit... did you know our rims are made by Enkei?? Cool, huh......

I actually didn't figure it out myself... it was posted on the CL forum a while ago. I think someone who had a good relationship with their service manager was just BSing and he told him......

If you ever took off your wheels, there is an Enkei stamp on the inside.. where it tells you the wheel size and offset..

According to the TireRack they do in either a 17x7 or 18x7.5. But they could be wrong.

Don't think chrome would add much, maybe 1Lbs? I'm starting to lean towards the SSR GT1s . The BBS are on a lot of BMWs and saw then on the Lexus is300 race cars today on speed vision They are nice as well. I don't think it was meant to look like mesh.

Based on the TL's suspension geometry, I believe 17" rims give the best performance - bigger wheels can cause all sorts of dynamic complications (it is a pohysics thing).

I remember that Car & Driver (Road and Track?) tested a whole bunch of +1 and +2 and +3 fitments, and determined that generally a 17" 45-series tire gave the best overall performance, and that going higher diamtere or loower profile was problematic unless you had the instrumentation and ability to measure and adjust the suspension.

So onew coulod go 18" for looks, and 40-series, but bigger ois not necessarily better.
