Question newbie needs advice on TL-S...HELP

new to the forums. i've been looking into the 2nd generation TL-S's, and despite all the great reviews, i'm still worried about all the complaints about transmission problems, squeaky interior, bad gas mileage, etc. i LOVE the agean blue, and would like to buy a used one (under 30k miles). but i need some advice before i make any decisions. thanks!

p.s. if the tl-s doesn't work out for me, i'm settling for an '02 accord =/

1. Gas mileage - is as good as your driving habits, trust me, when you get this car, you won't want good gas mileage, it's not enough fun :-)

2. squeaky - don't worry about it, the only real issue is sunroofs which get fixed with tape

3. transmission - Acura stepped up to the plate and gave every TLS a 7 year tranny warranty so this is a non-issue! just make sure it's transferrable (ie. go to a dealer and pretend you're interested in one and ask them this specific question)

Dude, you're going to run into major/minor problems with almost any vehicle you purchase. The tranny issue is covered by Acura for 100k mi., the squeaking the dealers will take of also, and if it reoccurs it isnt a big issue IMO.

Look at it this way. You are getting alot of bang for the buck and the TL has been rated a Consumers Reports Best Buy for a while now. I also reccomend that you look into getting a new 03 instead of one with so many miles. There are probably some out there on the lots and you can probably get a decent deal on them.

Happy hunting!

I don't want to get everybody's hopes up but there was a thread last week about one of us (TL Members) being involved in a miltimillion dollar suit with Honda Motor Corp. and it looks like there might be a chance on a total replacement of all of the TL's trannies. The member couldn't say much due to being involved in the suit but it sounds like there is a positive outcome for all of us in the future.....take a look for the thread...it was last week.

Man, I have emailed Comptech 3 times since they told me they were out of blowers. I have yet to get an email response back. I'm going to call them today and Velocity Resources. So to make a long story short no, no blower!

I wouldn't call #3 'stepping up to the plate'. It took nearly a year of failures and bad customer experiences for this to happen. I think they finally did this after they got some bad press. I would say avoid Honda auto trannies like the plague!

The 6th gen Accords are the same as our cars..so I don't know why if you getting a TL-S doesn't work out..why go with the same exact car? Just like bloo_tls02 stated, all cars have minor problems.. so don't think by you not getting a TL-S that your not going to have any problems with the '02 Accord..which I believe has just as many problems as our TL-S.

Good luck..

After the tranny issue I haven't had any problems. I just heard my MDX tranny got recalled too. Ugh, I hope I don't go through the tranny issue with the MDX as well. Other then that, I love my car, not too many problems.
