New Used Car Update
2001 acura tl, 115,000, rebuilt tranny, monterey blue.
I bought this car and quickly realized it was a rescue vehicle.
To bring it back, so far have done the following.
~Registered with myacura.com been very useful.
~Oil change
~Air filter new
~Battery Interstate
~Radiator flush
~Ignition coil oem
~Spark plugs NGK Iridium
~Transmission flush 3x3 honda dw-1 atf (old atf smelled very burnt) So far better shifting. Minimal slippage compared to before change. Crossing fingers.
~Transmission filter
~Full detail job (interior, exterior, engine.)
~Buffed approx. 50% of scratches and fixed 50% of dents.
~Timing belt, all belts, and water pump.
~Front Carpet mats replaced with acura oem all season.
Brakes and rotors. Any Suggestions?
American Racing Casino Rims 17 x 7.5 +45 Sanded and painted gunmetal wet.
All season tires reccomendations?

Sorry but It should not be Slipping like at All.. There is no "Minimal" if its Slipping its Done For, Not much more until the Clutches give in and Start Slipping 24/7...
Are you Sure your using the Right Term? Slipping is when the Trans cannot Shift Properly into the Next Gear (It Should feel like pressing the Clutch in a Manual) REVs go Up = No Movement. < If this is Correct then Prepare for the Worse...
Or its just Harsh Shifting?

many options on tires and as many thoughts on whats best,,best for the dollar etc
see any tire threads
look on ground just behind radiator-center for odd looking and feeling oil fluid
look at mount from below for oil trail stain-dust adhering to it etc
perform dynamic static test with trusted friend--block wheels so car cant take off!
in gear,ON BRAKES - helper revs quickly to mid rpm and release
you watch for movement of engine,,more than 1/2 inch and its got a bad mount
side mount ckd old school with eyes and prybar,,its a normal solid rubber style mount

Concerning oil leakage of front mount, I recently replaced Front & Side mounts and didn't have tell-tale oil stains because my front mount was torn only at the TOP above the oil level - - that "brake-rev" test is the only way to go!
An added benefit of NEW mounts is that our TL accelerates more crisply.
In fact, even after my recent 3x3 ATF Drain/Fill/Drive I was still concerned that my tranny (original & 93k miles) was sometimes slipping during sudden acceleration - - The new mounts solved that problem! So, it wasn't tranny slippage we were feeling, it was motor motion under certain acceleration conditions.
It's a shame that OEM mounts don't last longer, but replacing the two mounts so far was a very satisfying investment of time & money! I'll be checking the Rear and Tranny mounts soon, and you should too.

I would Polyurethane Mounts instead of the Original OEM Ones! They seem to outlast them by more than Twice the Time = Alot of Money Saved...
Only Con = They dont Automatically Adjust over Load like the OEMs so a little Wheel Shaking might be standard.
