Arrow New Tranny Ordered From ACURA??

I brought my car in to the dealership complaining about "whistle" noises in first gear all the time around 2k RPM'S.. That's all that was wrong No slipping nothing abnormal. This whistle has been happened for over 40k miles, so the service manager took my car and took it for a drive he drove it like a maniac and told me my tranny is defective. We get back to the dealership and tells the service tech. to order a new tranny from Acura, he tells me it will be in next week.

I have 140 000km's (88 000 miles) on my 2000 TL on the first tranny. Question is Im getting a brand new "tranny" from acura wich he told me and he said it was gonna be brand new and not a rebuilt one.

From what I learn't since I have been on here acura dealerships seems to be a bitch about tranny's and replacing them, maybe it's a Canada thing?? lol.

Anyways Im replacing my tranny at Acura Laval near Montreal Quebec. Thing is Should I be getting a brand new Tranny?? he made it clear it was new i asked him about 3 times if it was gonna be a rebuilt he re-claimed it was gonna be new! What's up with that?? Shouldn't I be getting a rebuilt tranny??

Also How long should I expect for my TL to be in the garage?? Dealership is gonna give me a "curtosity car' when they take the car is Im getting an 2006 Acura CSX!! can't wait to try it out. For all the MTL'ers deal with Acura Laval

I'm no pro here but it doesn't make sense that you would be getting a "new" tranny. They don't make trannies for our car anymore and since the stopped making them in '03, unless he has a secret storage for new trannies for the 2nd Gen that are 3 yrs old...then I would say that you are getting a "brand new" rebuilt tranny. Sure it's new....new to you! Mine was in the shop for 3 days when they did the tranny. Good luck.

its most likely going to be a rebuilt tranny.(nothing wrong with that. As for how long, it all depends on the dealer. I droped mine off on a wed and had it back thurs. as for "smoother" ?? it all depends on how bad your original one was. The only thing i noticed was the shifting was quicker

Technically it is a "new tranny"

They take an existing bell housing from an old tranny and replace all the internals. That's how they do it. There is no benefit to having a new bell housing as it's just the case and serves no function to how the tranny behaves.

It was 3 days including ordering. Still a while but it wasn't driveable so I didn't really have a choice on that one.

Darshan where are you from?? Anyways My tranny rite now really doesnt feel solid it shudders in low rpm's in certain gears there is a whistling noise and also when shifitng it feels as if the whole engine/tranny is gonna fall out of the car.. The car really feels like a POS! I just noticed it when I drove my freinds 2002 TL-p last night, my car couldn't even compare to that one.! I hope its all solved when the new tranny comes in and the car should drive like it's supposed too!

mines has been ordered, I'm drivin a 06 TL loaner until they get it n put it in....now I see y 2nd gen TL owners trade in their cars for new ones...The seats are more comfy, bluetooth, nice gauges the whole interior lighting is blue, handles better, has projectors, quieter engine, wider tires, torque steer is almost eliminated, shift points are at 3k instead of 2k-2.5k, shift is almost right in your hands everything is so ergonomic.....too bad its too much mooola for me

Yeah I know what you are saying man they fixed alot of stuff with these new ones. I just don't like the llok of em compared to the seconds gens. They look a bit "squished" to me. At least from the outside.

Honestly, I really like the 2ng gen it looks wider. The city driving sucks. Highways is where I love it the TL feels like a tank on the highway I really dont feel like im driving a V6!! rides like a champ. at 100mph plus!!

2nd gen is longer, but I think the 3rd gen is actually wider because it comes with 8" wide tires and fender flares. the seats are just so damn comfortable, go sit in one and tell me that you hate it. The shifter is rite in reach, the seats are softer than ours, the seats hav these sides that keep you in your seat under sharp turns. I think what got me sayin this is the s*** is because the interior is much better than ours, blue led interior, carbon fiber pieces, metal plated pieces, bluetooth bad a$$ seats and a smallers steering wheel almost feels like an aftermarket steering wheel.

Yeah I know what your saying the interior is really nice on these. I like the gages much easier to see then the ones in my car. I am going to get blue LEDs for my gauges for sure now! If I had the cash to jump into one of these new TLs I would in a sec .
