NEW ROTORS at 35K under warranty!
Wow!
David McDavid Acura really came through for me this time!
I complained about my car shaking under braking at my last scheduled service and they said they would turn the rotors and get me new pads under warranty.
I dropped off my car yesterday and this morning I got a call from the service rep, saying that the rotors were beyond repair so they replaced them with brand new ones!
My TL is a '99 with 35000+ miles on it!
I know several of you had warped rotors and a few of you had problems getting them repaired under warranty at your dealer...
If you fit the latter, have your dealer contact David McDavid (512) 335-5555 and ask.
This, on top of the new RSX they gave me as a loaner!!!!
There's a thread about the RSX too if anyone's interested.
KH.

Yea, it's the first time replacing the brake pads.
And I'm not even sure if the pads were due for replacement.
The whole thing started when I noticed that my car would vibrate under braking, so when I told my service rep she said that the "factory pads caused the rotors to warp." I think that is the reason why they covered this whole thing under warranty.
Normally, I think brakes are considered "parts subject to normal wear and replacement" just like tires, wiper blades, etc.
I was quite surprised, myself, that they would cover it under warranty at my current mileage.
Now I have a question for you:
How did you get the "Inspire" badge?
And more importantly, can you hook me up with a set?

35K miles and never changed pad before???
You're not using your brake or what?
I think you're lucky that the dealer took care of it for you.
I am gonna wait until my brake pad wears down and take my car to the dealer and see what they gonna tell me..
I've got it from Mike (valueTL). Try to PM him. He can hook one up for you....(I think.)

dealsers will replace or repair the brakes only if you have problems, ie warped rotors. i had my rotors resurfaced at southwest acura in houston, but they wont change the pads or give me new rotors. i know several people actually got both free rotors and pads replaced for warped rotors.

To answer Songoku:
I guess I haven't been driving my TL as hard as I should have. :o :o Still breaking it in.
But... I'll keep your comment in mind when I get my TL back, though.

You are funny.
My pads are were only 60% gone, before they got replaced under warranty at 45k miles on my second visit for warped rotors. I think Acura was trying to include the pads on the no tune-up for 100k miles.
Don't even dare tell me that I don't used my brakes, because I do, specially when I brake from 130mph to 20mph on the highway exits . I had my pads change at 11k miles on my 98 eclipse, I brake so much that I wore the pads under the 12k miles warranty for the pads Then again at 25k and again at 35k. I drive fast all the time, so I brake a lot.
I don't know what was on the TL pads, but I couldn't believe they would last over 45k miles with more to go, especially with my driving. I was amaze.

Come to think of it, I don't think I was very easy on my brakes either.
I mean, once in a while I get the ABS to kick in...
...on DRY pavement!!!
