Sweet.
I wish I knew someone that had new the new disc so they could copy it for me. (Provided they have a dual layer burner, of course.)
I'd even PAY someone, but all my friends w/Acuras (and other Hondas with navigation) don't have it.
I just can't bring myself to pay $180 for an update.
I just want street by street really, nothing fancy.

I was in my friends MDX the other day, and notice that her Navi application interface and display look diffrent than mine.... I currently have the 2.05a version, do you guys know if the look and feel change with the lates version in addition to the coverage area?
For example, her stanby screen is a photo of the earth surface from space. Mine is a shot of the entire globe with stars. If the interface changes along with the look and feel, I might consider the upgrade.

Wasn't 2.20 supposed to be the final update for us??? I guess that was just a trick to make everyone buy it up...almost worked on me.
They still haven't included detailed coverage of my area, even though there are over 100K people in and directly surrounding where I live, but they decide to include rural friggin Shenandoah National Park?
If that sucker can be copied...I'd be willing to go in with some others to split the cost of buying one, then have somebody make copies.

Flyin' and Drivin'
Well since I'm new to the whole navi thing i guess I'll have to do something. I havn't even picked the car up, but when you say standby screen, does that mean that the screen is blank except for a button on the left that says shutdown, and on the right is the digital clock? Well that screen, according to the pictures of my car, its just a bunch of stars. check out the pic at the bottom. The guidance voice doesn't change at all when you buy a new disk does it?

Here is my take:
* Folks have complained the 2.20 was a performance dog compared to the earlier versions... 2.30 has reportedly restored the speed of previous releases... I don't know this for sure... It's just what people have claimed. And from that perspective, it is a "performance upgrade" if you are running 2.20...
* Version 2.20 was "supposed" to be the last release with software revisions (added icons, changes in voices, or whatnot)... Our navigation units should continue to get updates that reflect new POIs and up-to-date map changes... I'd be a bit upset if this were not the case... And I think we can continue to expect the updates as long as it makes financial sense for them to continue putting them out... Just don't expect any new features or functionality...
* Yes, $185 is a lot of money... especially if you have to do it each year... Those that live in communities that are on a high growth clip will probably want to upgrade more often since new streets are constantly added... However, if you live in a densely populated area where very few new streets are added (as I do in the SF Bay Area), I think an update every few years to get updated POIs is fine... Amortize the $185 across 3 or 4 years, and the cost is bearable...
My opinion... Your mileage may vary...

oh hey, by the way, when you buy one of these update dvd's, all you have to do is eject the old one and pop in the new one and everything works just fine on the screen with no reprogramming? Like insert and play?
