New Navi
I just found out that the new 2002 acura models will have the new Onstar System. Same as the ones from catty's and such. I dunno if they will totally design their navigation but they might to intergrate this into their system. dunno bout you guys, but i wouldn't mind the benefits of sports, weather, and news updates once in awhile

There was an article about 5 months ago on talks of onstar and Honda. They said that onstar was expanding not just the line up its services are offered for GM cars but other manufacturers mainly Honda. Check it out here! http://www.onstar.com/news/2000_rls2018.htm

right now, for safety & security package, it's $200/year (stolen car tracking, air bag deployment notification, lock/unlock & emergency assistance,etc.). Premium goes to $400/year. Cellular service on the way soon - factory handsfree kit basically. All analog though. Saab is using OnStar(R) on all US vehicles in '01 - I'm sure others besides Honda will be joining in.
Side note - if I were the 'Vette folks, I'd be pissed. A $25K Buick Regal GS gets it standard along with a year of service included. Buy Chevrolet's flagship vehicle, a $45K C5, and you're SOL. Not even available as a option.

Doesn't OnStar have the capability to locate/track your vehicle? I'm assuming this because if they can track your car if it's stolen, why can't they track it when you're using it? Also, would it be an option or standard equipment?
Personally, I think we get enough snooping on us and would opt not for the OnStar.

Yes, OnStar can track your vehicle 24/7/365. Although they promise they only activate the system if you report it stolen . Could be worse I suppose with OBD III informing CARB you installed an aftermarket header system and therefore the nearest cop should arrest you.
My guess is it would be standard. Lastest version of the system is integrated into the rear view mirror assembly, so it would be easier & cheaper to just do the electrochromic mirrors/OnStar as a standard one piece unit. The GM applications also require an antenna (analog cellular) and transponder is shoebox sized.

I thought that's going to be on the RL only next year...correct me if I'm wrong.
Does anyone know how much is that option / monthly service fee and things like that? Are there different kind of packages?
