sweet ride! Welcome to acurazine- we have Guru's on nearly every subject, and knowledge from other cars transfers to many repairs or upgrades here. Between us, we can diagnose probs and suggest mods for better brakes and suspension, or leave it stock and love it!
Read the trans failure thread to be aware and informed, and a read of the other thread title for 2nd gen will give you heads up on the frequent questions.
Register your car with acura 1-800-382-2238 x5 tell them you are a new owner and want any history on the car, any open recalls or extended warranty you need to be aware of.
then register with them at the computer site- different system
you need the VIN for both of these things- also record your radio security code there for future referance, when the battery is disconnected the radio locks down.
https://www.ahm-ownerlink.com/login.asp?brand=acura
and the owner manual in case you didnt get one with the car

Unfortunately I didn't do a whole ton of research on these cars before I bought and now all I keep hearing about is the bad trannys in them. Oh well. Hope I don't run into problems.

When you register with Acura they can tell you when the trans warranty is up, and we can tell you how to get ~goodwill coverage~ from Acura if ever needed later.
Other than that warranty covered issue- these are sweet cars that get looks and compliments everywhere.
The other day- a guy in a nice Lexus was selling my buddy a truck- and he is looking at my car remarking how shiny it is,,,
and said- I will trade my Lexus for your car straight across- right now!!
I laughed because gen3 owners often wish the had the Lexus instead~
and Lexus owners with they had ~a honda~

you shoud have seen 2 items in the Recall area
First one says RECALL trans kit- Open or Fixed- thats the install of the external oil jet kit.
If you called acura they would confirm if that was handled or if you need to go in - its free.
the next one should say Extended Warranty transmission 1999-2003 OPEN
that means 7years+9 months from first date of service (ask the 800 people) or 109k miles,
plus there is an odometer reads 5% fast court thing- so if needed it has been sucessfully argued that 114.5 indicated is 109 actual as the court wanted.
800 can tell you if and when the trans was replaced before.

So I guess I am covered for awhile on the tranny then according to the Extended Warranty. Thanks again for the help.
