Talking new car but lots of questions

Hi everyone, i'm new to the site and new to an Acura product. I got my car 2 weeks ago (2002 black acura tl-s) and has 707 miles on it. Has anyone noticed the odometer going up really fast as in it shows more miles than the actual distance that you went? Also I have noticed for a few days now that when i go to move the car the engine makes 2 loud vibration sounds like its coming from the wheel areas, does anyone know what that is, i mean i properly let my car warm up before i go so please help. Also I really am not a "rocket scientist" on the sport stick, i mean i usse it once in a while but i'm not sure if i'm using it right, i mean can anyone just give me hints and tips on how to use it properly also, lets say i'm going about 80 with the s.s. and then i switch back to automatic, is that gonna mess up my tranny or will the tranny go bad soon anyway since what i've been reading about all these tranny problems. Nice to meet u all by the way ok ok wait one more question...... putting the headers on the car, will that take away from the acura smooth ride and does it do damage on mpg and do u see that much of a difference in the performance of the car.

Its not how you stand by your car but how you race your car

Welcome!

1)Odometer- I didn't notice showing more miles than actual

2)Vibration from wheels- the ABS kicking in when you first move the car (normal)

3) Shifting back to auto when SS- That's fine. Doesn't hurt car.

4) Headers- don't do anything to ride quality. Just gives you more torque at high end. It should help improve MPG.

hey carfreak, thank you so much for the advice, so the headers would be a good thing? Anything else i can do thats relatively easy and great for my car. By the way your car looks awesome.

Welcome! I think Carfreak answered jsut about everything...except I heard that headers decrease mpg, not increase. If I were you nike1678 I'd do the mods I have done...I've done the low cost one and it has improved the car so much. By the way...you have the same car I do .

-Aluminum trim/door sills (check out the real aluminum trim kit thread)
-SS brake lines
-AEM CAI w/ bypass
-New bulbs
-Comptech Exhaust

If you're trying to save on cash like I am I suggest you buy the AEM CAI and the Exhaust used...I bought my exhaust for $350...big savings there.

It was actually really easy...I just don't think it's possible to do with one person without a pump. I didn't have to drain the main cylinder at all...we just hooked the clear tube up to the bleeder valve, pumped the brake to get most of the fluid out, then went in and did the install. Most of the work was in jacking up the car and removing all 4 wheels. The actual install of the brake lines took no more than I'd say about 15 mins. And they feel GREAT!

The spongy feel is completely gone. It's more of a responsiveness thing than a sheer ability to stop thing. If you slam on your brakes and I slam on mine...yours will just react slower as the rubber tubing bulges under the hydraulic pressure. Don't think it's like you tap your brake and BAM you're at a dead stop...it just feels like stronger braking if you can imagine.
