New Brochure

The complete 2002 TL and TL-S brochure is available. My dealer wasn't handing them out, but since I have a order already in, gave me one with instructions to keep it under wraps. They are going to unload their current 25 TL before listing the 02 as available. However, no new revealing data in the brochure.

Just spoke with my dealer here in NJ.. He said they don't get the brochures until the first car arrives. He said they also don't plan on knowing the MSRP until close to then. Amazing how Acura can keep their lips closed so tight. NEED SOME INFORMATION LEAK!

It is amazing how they can keep their lips so tight and also how every dealer has a different story as to when they are getting cars (even dealers within an hour of each other). This thing about not knowing the price of a vehicle for which is being advertised, built and brochures out is simply not a believeable thing! They know, they just don't want to tell ya!!

WOW! 300HP! That is definetly worth waiting for. I'd hate to buy now and then have the whole style revamped.
I figure Acura will make the TL-S the TL for 2003 and add @ 30 hps for the new TL-S.
The only concern though is 300hp in a front wheel drive. That'd create some serious torque steer.

I got the new brochure as well on Saturday, March 3rd. It shows probably 5-6 pictures of the TL-s, and only a couple of the 02 TL, so there's big-time emphasis on the type S. Nice brochure though, all pictures taken in the desert (HOT), cactus on the back, seperate color chart in back sleeve. I asked my dealer what the MSRP would be, he thought it'd be right around 32K. He has 14 type-S TLs coming in this month 3 w/Navis -which dont arrive until the last week of the month. He showed me his dealership invoice.
Personally im not too impressed with the whole deal. I have a 2000 TL, and he agreed with me that the new type-s hasn't gone through much of a re-design on the outside. Design on the 03 model type-S will be MUCH more aggressive and may even break into the 300HP range. (may be released as an 04 model) so, i may just wait for that. i don't know though, it's always fun to drive a 2002 way before 2002, and it is still a very nice car.
Only 1 of his 14 has been sold , so i have some time to think about it. It IS a great car though.

IMO, the new '02 TL wheels look sportier than last year's. But I like the TL-S' wheels even more.
The '02 brochure only has one side view picture of a TL (gold color) clearly showing the wheels.
Some other changes for the '02 TL include dual stage front driver and passenger air bags (actually not sure if '01 model had that), more aggressive front end, top portion of brake lights is now clear (same shape as before), 6-disc CD player, redesigned side view mirrors (similar to '01), "improved structural seals" (whatever that means), increased sound insulation to minimize wind and road noise, auto up/down driver's side window, fog lights, driver's side memory seat (capable of storing settings for 2 people), and different badging on the steering wheel.
The TL-S adds VSA (Vehicle Stability Assist) in place of the TCS (Traction Control Sys.), perforated leather trim interios, 260 hp engine, 17" wheels, and special TL-S badging.
As far as colors go, no more Laguna Green (replaced by very similar anthracite metallic). Added Aegean Blue for TL-S and Eternal Blue Pearl for TL (darker than Aegean).
I hope this help those of you as curious as I was before getting to look at the '02 brochure.

yea the 300hp sounds great, but you can't expect to trade in your current vehicle for every new model that comes out. personally, i can't wait that long for the "revamped" TL....i think the 2002 TL-S is a great car (value, design). sure the 2003 TL will be faster and newer, but i'm definitely sure the MSRP will also be higher. just my 2 cents.

Thank JL6267 for taking the time to photograph and sending those photos. I wish I had the brochure in front of me so I could read the text and scan it in...
I heard the new Anthracite Metallic color wasn't going to be available for the Type-S, only available on the base model. Is this true? I'd like to get my hands on that color...
I never really considered the black interior before (gets really hot during the summer, doesn't age well) but it looks sweet...
That tan color is looking nice too...

![Question](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
dc, what do you mean when you say the ebony interior "doesn't age well"? I would assume that the darker interior would age better than the lighter colors. Doesn't the darker interior hide stains, dirt, spills, etc. better? I expect to keep my TL-S for a long time, so this is an important issue for me. Your input (or input from others with experience) is appreciated.

It is true according to the brochure the Type S is not available in Anthracite Metallic. (my opinion the best color)
Thanks to DC for posting those pics for me.

Amen to that, either get it now or not. Do you know what kind of options we'll have as far as cars go 2-3 years from now!! The TL may not even be on your list BTW, the redesign is supposed to happen as a 2004 model which is also the same year the new RL is coming out. If you want to wait 2 years or so for 300hp, to each their own, but I'd say, drop the cash now, throw in headers and an intake, and you'll be over 300hp anyway. Plus, you'll have the car now!!

The pictures of the car in the brochure looks good. The front end is definitely better than the 1999-2001 model year vehicles. Now I would like to see one of these in the flesh (metal ?)...

You people are without a doubt some of the most fanatical people I've ever met when it comes to their cars. It is truly infectious!! Just a couple of weeks ago I didn't even know of your website. Went looking for some info on the new TL-S and found you bunch of looney tunes. Ever since I check in 2-3 times a day just to see who's saying what.
Because of "y'all" there's no way I can't be buying one of these gems. Its become such a passion for me lately that I got an e-mail from my local dealer saying that I could come in today an pick up a 2002 brochure, you'd think I won the lottery or something! Its just a brochure for Christ's sake. But its more than that isn't it? You betcha. Its just one step closer...
Thanks to all of you enthusiasts, I feel like a 4 year old kid again who gets his training wheels off for the first time and I'm almost 40!
I'm sure you'll all get the car you deserve; all in good time.
Thanks again...

Yeah, I must admit, I'm a newbie and I check this board alot my damn self! I was definitely feelin this car except that I hated the front grill. But then, I saw that pic of the Black TL S, and I graciously shutup! Can't wait to see it in person. If it's as good as the pic, I'll have to say good bye to my the other choices I had in mind for late this year, which were the RX300 or A4. I don't even care what the next ES300 looks like now!!!
