LEDs are the new neons of today. They can be programed to show certain patterns and they can produce different colors from the same tubes, since the LEDs are of different colors. I have the regular neons... and if I knew about the LEDs before I got them, I would definitely had gotten the LEDs.

Yeah stick with green. White usually matches just about anything too.

As for the LED vs neon, the neons are dispersed more so you get a uniform light all around the tube. The LEDs have dispersion in maybe a half-circle direction, and you can also get a brighter line so you have to rotate the tubes until you get that line to spread out more.

The main advantage of LEDs are that they draw less power, and you don't use high voltage (~9000 volts) and transformers as you do with neons. Plus with LEDs you get those neato patterns since groups of LEDs can light up. With neon, either the whole tube is lit or not.

Otherwise installation is the same. Just hook up the wires from the tubes to the controller and the power and ground lines from the controller to the battery or other power source.

Hope that helps.

honestly i was thinking about getting red neons for my Red TL...i think they would look sweet but i understand that if you dont have a body kit, the tubes slightly show.

Great, another TL in the hands of a ricer.

Whatever. It's your car. But don't get pissed off when people point and laugh at you. Everyone I know who has had neons on their cars ended up taking them off and selling them. It's not cool, it's illegal, and it's a waste of money. Go pick up some performance mods with that money.

I'm not entirely against cosmetics mods. I love nicely done body kits and accents here and there. Even tips, especially on our cars because we need them unless you get new mufflers. But neons? Stupid body kits? Big spoilers? Come on. The TL isn't meant for that kind of shit. Go pick up a junker Civic for 500 bucks and rice it out to your heart's desire. At least we won't have to put up with seeing a riced out TL.

Civic got a bad reputation among car people because idiots started ricing them out. It spread like a plague, and now Civic = Ricer car. I don't want that shit happening to me or us.

It's like that crazy neighbor who does weird shit to his house, and dropping the property values for the rest of the neighborhood. I would kick that son of a bitch's ass. While it is his house and he can do whatever he wants, he's hurting others at the same time. I don't want the TL to bear a bad reputation just because it became the vehicle choice of ricer mods.
