Question Need your advice on totaled 2003 tl car

I had minor accident on my 2003 TL over 100,000 miles. The insurance company wants to totaled it and give me $10k and gave option if I want to keep the car they will give me $7k, I can get the car fix for $2K and will have salvage title.

My question is should I keep the car and have it fix or get the $10k and find another car.

Thanks for you input.

2003 S types are selling here locally with 65k miles for around 9.5...so you do the math.

if you like the car, take 7k fix it with 2k, you'll still have 5k in your pocket. if you don't like the car then 10k

run with the check!
go buy something with a more reliable trans~
at 100k you are getting ready to spend $1500 on the service, plus the trans issue

Not that you need another comment here but...

Take the money - you are at a point where you will start to spend more on the car in the next few months/years anyway... (maintenance/trans/more mods...)

Doubt you could get 10k for the car if it wasn't totaled anyways...

Not to mention you'll have a hard time getting what you feel the car is worth later when you try and sell it because of the salvaged title.

btw - what insurance company?

ez question bro, take the money and buy a new one. Surf craigslist and you can find a cheaper S. with lower mileage. 9k for a salvage TLp is too much, plus if you fix it and the tranny dies, good luck with that.

Damn dude that doesn't sound right, the 10 grand I mean. I got $8700 for a 2000 TL with 126K a year ago. But still, I would take the 10K.

I got back a little over 13k on mines in nov of 08 with 130k miles. Bought back the car for a grand and spent about 2k on it and have a very nice car for 3k again.

Depends on where the car was hit and how much the damage is. I have really had no headache what so ever besides having it in the shop for for a couple months. I know the shop guy so i got a nice price and damage was bad but not too bad. I didnt think spending 2k on my car was a bad idea since it ran very well. Im happy with my choice. Everyone to their own.
