Need to win the dealer battle... Please help

Hi, im new to the board and dont post much but anyway,
I own a 2003 TLP and today i took it to the dealer because of vibration of wheel while braking. I was first told that it was not covered at all.... until i mentioned the TSB, after which the lady said ill be right back. So she comes back in 5 min or so, and says there is no TSB for your problem for your year car. Basically they will inspect the problem and call me back with their decision. Now in case they call me saying they wont cover it, i need some evidence. If anyone happens to know where i can get this TSB for my year, please help me out. Any other suggestions are also welcome....

Sorry for the long post....

00-037 OCT 03 Brakes - Brake Disc Refinishing Guideline

00-037 is the TSB number and it certainly includes the '03 TL. Tell that lady to stick it.

EDIT -- Just in case you didn't know, the vibrations while braking is caused by warped front disc rotors, and that's what this TSB covers. However, a TSB does NOT mean that it's automatically covered for no charge. TSB is just that -- a Technical Service Bulletin, a message to the dealerships from the manufacturer with instructions on how to deal with a common problem. However, most Acura dealerships will do this TSB at no charge, depending on mileage.

For example, I just had mine replaced (not just refinished, but brand new rotors and pads) at about 25k miles. They didn't say a word about my mileage and agreed to fix it. On the other hand, you will have to fight it with some dealerships.

Good luck, and if they don't do it, then take it to another dealership.

Whizzbomb -- Can you send it to me, too?

TransAm2002c@aol.com

It never hurts to have information. And Honda/Acura put in some court order preventing AllData from listing detailed TSB instructions. Fuckers.

Wow i cant believe this B*tch, i called her and told her nicely that i got the TSB number that includes my car (03)... she played it off like she has already found it and is aware of the situation.... She still has the balls to tell me my car has to first be examined before any decisions can be made. She Started mumbling something about ecessive brake usage or some shit like that..... i hung up on her shortly after.

Basically if she call me saying i have to pay for any of this, i dont know what to do. After lying to my face about the TSB.... ill knock her out!!!!! Guess if it doesnt work out, ill have to try a nother dealership.

Oh and thanks to everyone who replied.

Yes i came in there very aware that my rotors were warped....but presenting all the info that i have, and still getting disrespected... I HATE ACURA SERVICE.

If nothing else works, then you can get Rotora rotors and Axxis Ultimate pads. I know a guy who is a retailer of many products, and those are two of the things he sells. He's got a great price offered to me, but I don't have the money at this time, so I couldn't take it.

Just letting you know that there's the aftermarket route if the dealerships give you a hard time and don't cover it.

Or if you know your way around cars, then you can take off the rotors, then take it an auto parts store, where they will refinish them for like 5-10 bucks.

Good luck.

Oh, and never deal with women about anything related to cars. They are bad luck. They can't drive; how do they expect to sell or service them? Such irony.

I'm not a sexist. Just stating the facts.

As of now, im sharing this car with a girlfriend, so investing into parts is not so smart right now.... All i want is for those assholes to give me the service i paid for. They fucked up on the whole braking system, and im supposed to pay to correct it?????? hell no!

I believe it's in their genes.

That's why no woman has ever driven my car. Well, actually, even with guys, I don't let them drive. Only my brother, my dad, and two of my best friends who are all good with cars.

A slight off-topic, but I dropped my car off at the body shop today to get some stuff taken care of. Some young guy working there was eyeing my car, and I swear to God if I see ONE MILE over on the odometer, I'm gonna go apeshit. I'm just getting the driver door moulding repainted, and the black trim tape removed and repainted because it has bubbled and is peeling off. No need for test drives, so if I see that they drove it, I'm going to go bananas. That's how anal I am.

I want to see them do that on an electronic odometer.

It's a Chevrolet body shop, who owns Acura of Troy. So they share the body shop together. I've taken my car there before, as well as the Tahoe I used to have. Good service, cool manager, but I just don't trust the guy who was eyeing my car this morning, because I've never seen him before, and he had this radiance in his eyes and kept looking at me as I was leaving the place.

I get the brake shit all the time

For a 2K3 sounds like you would still be covered under the warranty. If you are not getting the service you deserve, talk to the supervisor. Let them know how you feel. If he/she gives you lip, request their supervisor, all the way up to the owner of the dealership. Mention HoA in your conversations. In all fairness, if you run with your foot on the brake, they will wear prematurely. On the other hand, If you have a lot of pad left over, indicate that the rotor IS defective and that simply turning them will make them even MORE SO. DEMAND rotor replacement. After all, drug pushers are everywhere... just give your business to the next one, if your current one ain't providing the buzz that makes you smile.

Try paying Bill Vince's Acura out in NJ. They resurfaced my front rotors and replaced my brake pads for free about 6 months ago. I have a 2000 TL with 45000 miles on it.

By the way guys, just a little update here....
I got my rotors cut and brake pads replaced all free of charge. I think what they try to do is make you pay at first, but if they see you know what you're talking about, they'll give in. Thanks to everyone who helped in this matter....

That's because they make more money from you than they get from Acura Corporate seeing the dealer has a contract with them for a lower price.
