Does the back of your remote say it links to 1st or 2nd memory position, if it is hold down the lock and unlock buttons together. That should unlink the remote from the seat position. Thats the only thing I can think of, I've never linked my seats to the remote, nor have I had this issue.

on the back of the remote it will tell you which seat number it will go to. also look in the car manual and it will tell you how to use the remote and mem seats.

I'm pretty sure my 99 had mem seats, a 2001 should definitely have them. The controls are on the driver's door handle. How could you miss them?

Just move your seat where you want it, hold the red button until it beeps and then press position 1 or 2 to set it.

Yea, I have a 99 and do not have memory seats either
I think it might only be the 02-03 TL's.
