Need More Power...

I've got an 1996 2.5 TL and it needs more power. The other day I did a 0-60 time on it and got a meager 8.6 seconds. Is there anyway I can get the car to be quicker short of selling it and buying a new one? I'm tired of getting trashed by my friends Altima.
